Anyone naming Cogliano should replace him with Fowler.

From the Sens it's Greening. He did lose to Hagelin in a race.

Hagelin is faster than Gaborik who does not appear to be fast any longer.

Kris Russell is one of the fastest skaters I've seen play.

This thread needs more Chimera. Unfortunately, the skating is his only useful skill.

In terms of only speed? I think Duchene is top 5 in every skating category.

Straight away speed-wise, Jannik Hansen is the fastest Canuck IMO. Raymond is more shifty though

I'm pretty sure what he was trying to say is that Duchene has been mentioned a number of times.

Grabner is probably #1. Evander Kane should be in the discussion (apparently not in this thread yet). Raymond is pretty fast as well.

They should really have a race every year at the all-star game but include just the fastest player from each team regardless of whether he was voted as an all-star. It'd put this thread to rest and allow some obscure names to surprise people.

No kiddin'. Evander Kane put up a better number than many of the "winners" in that competition at our own competition last year.

There really are three different things mixed up in this discussion: straight skater sprinter speed, quickness, and speed utilized during actual play. To use a football example: Deion Sanders was the fastest player I have ever seen playing under game conditions, but he wasn't the fastest in a controlled sprint environment. Haven't seen that many players, but this year I haven't seen anyone quicker on the ice in a game than Evander Kane.

Hagelin, Grabner, Chimera, Stalberg, Cogliano I think. In no order.

Grabner is absolutely ridiculous, it's like they wedged a rocket in the back of his trousers. His acceleration especially.

Look at how he accelerates to full speed in about three pushes.

Hall and Duchene are both faster IMO than Kane.

I agree with everything you stated... There might be faster skaters but Duchene and Hall are insanely fast with the puck on their sticks and how they accelerate wih the puck is amazing.

Evander does have amazing speed and this year his anticipation has been terrific making him even more deadly

Have watched a few Blackhawk games this year, and Nick Leddy is one of the fastest defenseman I have ever seen. It seems like he can take the puck from his own blue line and be on a breakaway by the time he is on the opposing team's blue line.

Probably Grabner or Cogliano when talking the league as a whole. Hall and Paajarvi on the Oilers.

Again: If you have Cogliano on your list, he should be replaced by Fowler. On the Ducks, Fowler is the faster skater.

well I would still call him quick, he's just not elite fast anymore. That happens when you reach the other side of 30.

Grabner is so fast that if he knew how to finish one-on-one he would be a 40 goal scorer. He gets so many breakaways.
