And who was the last player to score 40 who was traded?

IDK, Nash, Heatley, and Kovalchuk just to name a few, have all scored 40 and been traded recently. All far better than Gaborik as well

Probably Rick Nash.

E: Make that Simon Gange.

The last player to get traded after a year he scored 40+ is probably Kovalchuk, and while Atlanta was much worse than the current incarnation of the NYR, the reason for the trade stands: they can't keep the player in question long-term.

At the time he was traded (from the Sens), he was worth more than current day Gaborik

That does not exactly help the team rebuild their debt like the article eludes to. I don`t see them moving him simply because it would be going in a circle with regards to adding Nash then removing Gaborik.

Eminger is negligible. We add a comparatively inferior D, and we are out the 2 we lost.
But we improve on Gaborik

EKane Richards Nash
Hags stepan Callahan
Kreider Miller Pyatt/Fast
Powe Halpern/Lindberg Haley

Boyle
Bickel

Staal McD
Hamrlik Stralman
Gilroy Postma
McIlrath

It would be interesting just to see what that top line would do with oversized Boyle added to Nash, EKane, imposing their will.

In any event, Boyle gets you help at D.
Bickel can play 4th line LW and emergency backup D.
You have options, if you keep Powe, then maybe Pyatt + Hamrlik = upgraded D

It is foolish and arrogant to insist by shear force of will this team as is can certainly dominate enough to win, that we are above the need to constantly improve.

Do it your way, we have slightly lower chance every year, which continues to decrease.

Do it my way, whatever our immediate makeup, we get stronger going forward.
Still no guarantee, but our odds get better.

Yield to the logic of it.
Dat defense.

you think the Rags have a chance at a cup this year? They barely squeaked by the Senators (I lost 5k thanks to the blueshirts)

This team is not cup material mark my words. I doubt they're even playoff material

Does this mean the Predators are only going to construct a lineup filled with grinders for the next century? Obviously because the 'win by committee' (which I'm not sure what that has to do with Gaborik).

They look about as good as the Kings did this time last year. Does that mean they do what LA did? No, but writing them off is premature, especially considering that they've actually been playing pretty well of late.

They lost 4 in a row when Nash went down, that certainly did not help.

Rangers are 12-2-1 in their last 15 games with Nash.

Good lord, it's a revolving circle of pimp my player. So what are you saying? That gaborik is more valuable than Nash? Because the tune the last few months, i.e. ever since Nash became a Ranger, is that he's worlds more valuable than Gaborik. But I assume that changes when we are talking about Gaborik's trade value, no?

Like it's to be expected for a 40g scorer, the Rangers should receive a young quality roster player, a good prospect and a 1st. Although that doesn't really make much sense as they're trying to win right now.

Gaborik for Abdelkader Nyqvist 1st
Gaborik for Setoguchi Larsson 1st
Gaborik for Blum Cehlin 1st
Gaborik for Raymond Kassian 1st

Deals of that type of ilk.

Why ? We could lighten up our D to trade for him.

Agree. Who do you need for him ? Kesler, Higgins, booth ? All Americans

Or take Hansen rather then Booth

What?

Why would we trade Kesler while our centre depth is abysmal without him and his value is at an all-time low?

Booth + Schroeder/Gaunce + 1st is ideally what I'd be okay giving up.
