Tbf, Kings were in 8th, but were on the ascent since adding Sutter and then acquiring Carter. Quick was also awesome all year, they just didn't have the coach early on to put it together. I could tell they would do well, even against Van (maybe not THAT well).

Coaching makes a HUGE difference - that's why the Leafs shouldn't be taken lightly. Consider they're still missing Lupul. Carlyle does not go down easy and they have a team built for the playoffs. That's why I prefer Bos/Tor in the first rd so they can bruise each other. Then take on the winner (at some point).

Again, the question was rd 1, right? If it was the ECF, then yeah, rivalry time for sure!

Awards:
Toronto.

They finally make the playoffs after all those years, only to get booted out the 1st round by the Habs. It would be so sweet.

I'm tired of facing Boston. Basically anyone but them in first round.

Voted NYR, would like Toronto too!

Say we finish 4th (I still think Boston wins the conference), and face the Rangers.

Then hope some low-seed beats the SE winner, so we avoid the Bruins in round 2 and face… Pittsburgh.

ECF: Montreal - Boston, it doesn't get any better! (well, Chicago-Vancouver in the West would be epic)

Oh, man. I ain't voting on this haha. It's one of the things you hesitate doing. You know? We always hear: "Be careful. Don't pick your opponents for the playoffs. Tends to bite you in the ass."

Though, another series with Boston would be great. Especially now that both teams are playing excellent hockey. Though I see this more viable in later rounds.

Playing against the Sens would be great. Last time we faced them was way back in 1927. I really hate the Sens this year as they seem to always find a way to give us difficult games or embarrass us. Which brings me to Toronto.

A series against Toronto would be HUGE. Both cities would probably implode and create 2 black holes destroying the planet as we know it. That's how big it would be. Last time we faced them was 1979. In the last 10 years, up until this year, the rivalry wasn't at it's best. But this year, the Leafs have been by far my most hated team. It would be a very tight series. And the winner would come out of it extremely worn out and bruised up. Would be fun.

I wouldn't mind anyone else. I don't want to pick a team. I'd like to think we can confront any team in the playoffs.

The most epic playoffs would be reaching the Stanley cup finals by beating each of our divisional rivals in each of the three first rounds. That would be something.

I think Winnipeg would be really fun. They are one of those bubble teams at the moment but the atmosphere in both buildings is awesome, and they have a few exciting players that I like to follow in Buff, Enstrom, and Kane. Plus, they are a fresh team that Montreal probably won't get to face in the playoffs after re-alignment.

I also think it would be a good matchup in montreal's favour.

Very tough question. We're talking about the 1st round here.

Wouldn't mind facing teams like Boston and Toronto later on, but facing them in the first round could be a bloodbath - and health is very important!

Also, Toronto hasn't made the playoffs in 7 years; should they beat the Habs, the amount of chirping will be unbearable, all memories of their futility erased. Just think of it: that single 6-0 win keeps coming up again and again. It's pretty much the only game that allowed them to "assert" their "new identity" of being a "tough" team even though their Top 9 aren't really tough and gritty at all (except for Komarov, I suppose). A playoff series loss in Round 1 would be a nightmare. The Habs have so much more to lose than the Leafs.

Actually, I have come to a conclusion: the Leafs should play the Rangers in Round 1.

(Hopefully none of this comes back to bite me.)

A round 1 loss against anyone wouldn't be ideal. Nobody wants that. If it's just a question of being chirped at, than who cares? They've always been chirping about something.

Rangers could end up being VERY dangerous in the post-season..

They have a lot of high-end scoring power, and you never know Lundkist may steal games..

Toronto in the first round would be fine. Cruising past Winnipeg while Toronto-Boston beat the **** out of each other then playing Montreal in the second round would be ever better.

I'd love to play Carolina! Need to replace those bad memories, Ward coming out of no where to steal the series, Williams poking out Koivu's eye, them winning the cup after that. And they are a solid and balanced team, if we can beat them in the playoffs I am pretty sure we can take on any other teams in the other rounds.
