Now that he's off the Kings he'll win the Rocket Richard, Hart, Norris, and Conn Smythe Trophy... Damn that Dean Lombardi for getting suckered into golf with Dave Taylor!
I'm glad that he found a place in the NHL. He definitely has NHL ability, but it's not always evident. I think that it's an issue of consistency, as well as finding the right situation. It'd be nice to see him return to his 03-04 form.
He's really not that bad, people...he was a serviceable 3rd pairing guy when he first came to the Kings and for the last half of last season. I really think he was just a little slow in adjusting to the new game.
He's got solid instincts in both ends. I think he'll do well in Boston.

dont sweat it, as i've found, most people posting on message boards cant skate in a straight line without falling down let alone play any sort of notable hockey.

I can skate in a straight line while drinking a beer.
Honestly, I have the utmost respect for anybody that makes it to the NHL... that level is just ridiculous to me every time I watch it up close in person. Nobody that makes it to that level is bad, even the enforcers. They all have to be able to play. Nathan Dempsey is no use to the Kings. He doesn't "suck," but just doesn't work for this team.
I've felt for the guy ever since seeing a video of him, Brown and Conroy taking questions from a mob of kids. Dustin and Craig got all of the eager kids' questions (out of a dozen or so), except for one, which seemed almost like a mercy question for Nathan's sake.
The Bruins can only go up from last season..... And having especially Chara but also Stuart around will be good for Dempsey, let him play his more natural role.
Good luck, Nathan. For us at least he always seemed like he was giving the effort.

I never disliked Dempsey, but that Q&A session (which was hard to watch) made the chance of it ever happening impossible. He seems like a nice guy.
Maybe true ... but that I recall the Kings didn't have that option, if they wanted to keep Dempsey it was agree to the option year which was $950,000 ... and Weaver @ $500,000 >> Dempsey @ $950,000 .
Agree you can't say he sucked and be serious, and agree he always seemed like he was giving his best effort, thanks for that and good Luck in Boston Nathan !
I agree; Dempsey was by far not the worst player for the Kings. We have gone through tons of worse defensemen. Dempsey was definitely a serviceable defenseman with good skating ability; in the new NHL, he can be a true asset if used correctly. It was only a matter of time till another team took him.
If he could hit the net more than one out of every one hundred shots attempted it'd make up for the terrible defensive coverage in his own end. I've never seen a single player have more shots either blocked or miss the net than he had last season. It was truly remarkable.

Again, I think you're justifying your opinion of him based on the first half of last season. Once he returned to form, he was solid.
