I refue to accept that a 6th rounder is good value for pretty much anything, nevermind a stud lke Boldin. He's not going to play foever, but he always puts up good numbers despite his age. 49ers completely stole him.

niners will be close to the cap limit next season for sure. Definitely have to dance around with salary numbers.

A sixth rounder IS nothing...that player basically has a 1% chance of contributing on anything other than maybe special teams ever. Boldin is a definite starter and contributor next year. All the Ravens did was get a low-round pick to control Boldin's destination.

Yeah, I mean a 6th is better than cutting him and getting cap penalties, but I don't understand how the 28 remaining GM's in the league didn't want to give up their 6th to bring him in.

a 6th rounder?????? I'm happy I'm not a Baltimore fan in this situation.

There are 32 teams in the NFL, but the Ravens would never trade with the Steelers or Patriots anyway.

That said, I think the Ravens wouldn't have traded him to a team they're likely to see again soon.

Throw the Browns in that mix too...so without the Browns/Steelers/Patriots, really there 'are' 28 teams in the NFL they would deal with lmao.

I think if Jenkins stays healthy the Giants got a steal. Love the signing.

I think he's done but our run defense sucks and it's only 3 million guaranteed. Not a bad risk at all

You guys missed my whole point about Boldin's salary and age. He's still a very good receiver but no team is going to trade a high draft pick for a WR going on 33 years old. A player like that is going to command a high salary and can only be signed to a 1-2 year deal before he retires.

Percy Harvin got a 1st because he is 24 years old and still has many years to contribute, Boldin can only give you 1-2 years more before he retires, that's why his value is so low. A player drafted in rounds 1-4 are usually immediate contributors to an NFL team and can be signed for much cheaper than Boldin could have.

Baltimore needed cap space to sign other guys like Kruger and Ellerbe, they made a decision to keep the team strong over signing an expensive WR.

As far as the 9ers cap it's estimated they have around 16m or so after the Boldin trade due to restructures and the release of Akers.

Dashon Goldson is looking for 8-10m a yr. He's gone...likely going to be replaced with Ed Reed.

Delaney Walker is likely gone no idea who they'll bring in to replace him but they probably could replace him in the draft.

I know the rumors were out there that the 9ers really wanted Wes Welker but I doubt if they were ever true since they went after Boldin.

Two seasons ago he showed up for some games. Last season he showed up some series. I don't think he has much left. I hope he doesn't have much left for you guys

We were in on welkers? I don't think he's straying far from home personally.

Draft should go pretty much like DE, corner, safety, TE, whatever you want. As long as Kaep stays healthy I am not too worried about the team next season. Def need to shore up the D though.

Wonder what will become of Kyle Williams and MM though.

um, what?

Boldin is hardly a stud WR. he is 33/34, slow, and due a pretty good chunk of change this year. the Ravens are right up against the cap and came out and said tehy were going to release him last week. so at least they got something for him.

In this thread: people underestimating the value of a 6th round pick and overestimating the value of an old, overpaid receiver.

I will take Boldin over a 6th every day even if its just this year. We also have 14 picks left in the draft this year so I'm not too shook up about it.

How can a sixth rounder be underestimated? For every Tom Brady, there's a thousand sixth rounders that get cut in camp, or be a special teams grinder at best.

And like someone else said, the Niners had 14 picks. It was literally a no-brainer.

if you can honestly say youd rather have a 6th rounder than boldin for even as little as 1 or 2 years, youre out of your mind.

Theyre up against the cap, but never even approached boldin about restructuring his contract.

most receiving yards and TDs in the playoffs. You don;t have to be fast to be a good WR. Look at his routes and strength. great, great great trade for SF

Looking like Kruger to the Browns...wow

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter
Browns reached agreement in principle on a five-year deal with Paul Kruger.

I hope to god the Saints are going to bolster their below mediocre defence. If we had a middle of the pack defence, we'd be close to unbeatable since we put up around 30 pts a game.

Our secondary is a complete joke and we can't stop the run. That's a disaster waiting to happen when you have that combination.
