Razor Shines, Oh wrong sport!
Actually as a kid watching the Rangers play Buffalo I would always hear the announcer say loose in front not realizing it was Don Luce in front of the net.

Kurri is Skimmed milk so as a Finn it's pretty funny.
When I was a kid almost every non European name sounded bad ass.
Paul Coffey, Ray Sheppard, Mario Lemieux, Felix Potvin etc. they sounded like super heros to me.

Disregarding all the names that look like porn pseudonyms I've always loved Sprague Cleghorn's name. That he had a reputation as being perhaps the dirtiest player in the game in his time just makes it even better.

Jim Carrey. Ok ok, its not funny.

But there was a soccer goalie Charlie Chaplin. One time he made a penalty, nothing serious. The referee came to him and asked for name. The answer : Charlie Chaplin.
Bum - Red card and the game was over for him.

Jaroslav "Yogi" Svejkovsky deserves a mention, too.

Fitting that he's dead.

Not for his family, of course, but still.

Bit disappointing that there isn't a "death" section explaining when and how he died.

Final line of the article declares he died of cancer in 2003.

Nice.

It's nothing short of a tragedy that Pete Peeters didn't play for the Peterborough Petes.

Agreed. Always used him in older NHL games because of his name. Usually as a utility player on the top two lines with far more talented linemates.

The only player with a hyphenated christian name and surname - Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond of the Devils and Flames.

Names with alliterations work for me.

Jaromir Jagr
ZZ as mentioned already by many
Palffy

Also:

Gino Odjick - Sounds as sick as he looks!
Kelly Buchberger - always thought of him as being half book / half hamburger
Boris Mironov - Sounded like a stereotypical russian/commie/badass character in an old James Bond film
Mariusz Czerkawski
Zdeno Ciger
Miro Satan.... hell, the 1997-99 timeframe Edmonton Oilers.

+ The Oilers also had one of the best nicknames also: Cujo.

Jiri Crha. I never knew how to pronounce this and whenever I saw the name in print all that came to mind was the villain in "Get Smart" saying, "Not the Craw, the Craw!"

... Ya, good comparison, analogy. Pronounced "sere-haw". Would you believe his nickname was George? True.
