Without question I see him moved at the deadline. I won't speculate on the return but he could end up in several places for a playoff push.

My guess is one of NYR, BOS, STL or DET.

Whitney to the Blues for Elliott with a conditional pick if he resigns.

The Blues need a LH PMD and Whitney would be a great rental if he keeps his play up.

Elliott is the odd man out with Allen stepping up. He is still a decent goaltender and would likely provide a decent tandem with Dubnyk.

Elliott's cap hit is also low so with Khabi leaving during the summer it would give the Oilers some room to sign guys like Smid.

Elliott's stats have been brutal considering the team that plays in front of him. But then again.. Whitney hasnt been great either..

Any team that is looking to make a deep run in the playoffs can use a player like Whitney. The guy has a laser beam of a pass just look at the pass to Gagner against Chicago. When he does jump in and given the chance he can bury the puck. I hope he keeps his play up like the last few games as his value will go up.

Whitney needs a change of scenery and to be honest would Elliott be any worse than Dubnyk or Danis?

Dubnyk plays better when there is a goalie trying to steal his job. With Khabi out, he knows Danis isn't good enough to take it from him so he lets in 2 softies a night.

Not sure why he's not a Sen yet. Thought the price would have been right a couple of weeks ago and it's a little risk move.

Lemme guess, this is where Oilers fans propose a package of him and hemsky/MSP for a teams young star?

I don't see him on the Rangers with the Hamerlik pick up, but you never know with Sather and his Edmonton connections.

You always find a way to mention the Leafs in your posts, and never in a positive way. Friedman is certainly one of the better hockey media members around, has good sources and is pretty sharp.

Then they add their offensive juggernaut and star player, Shawn Horcoff!

Didn't Lovejoy get traded for a 5th rounder? I wouldn't offer much more than that.

I think if we added our 2013 1st, it works for both sides.

Would Whitney+3rd/4th for Bishop work? It seems Bishop is the odd man out with Craig Anderson putting up a near MVP performance and Lehner coming up in a year or two. Surely Bishop can't be worse than Danis and can actually pose enough of a threat to take Dubnyk's job to hopefully make him consistent. If Dubnyk continues being inconsistent, then we'll try Bishop as our starter.

Has Friedman ever in his history called a trade?

So why should we trust his "inside info"? Sounds more like his educated guesses/speculation.

They will not seat Ference for Whitney and i doubt they will trade for him just for the pressbox.

Whitney would be a reasonable insurance policy for any team thinking they will have a shot at going deep in the playoffs this year. Pick him up, let him play limited minutes and act as defensive depth incase one of your regular starters goes down.

When was the last time Sather made a trade with Edmonton? 2004 deadline for Petr Nedved. 9 years ago. That was with Lowe. Tambellini always wants too much.

Don't want to trade Bishop (I say trade Anderson) but if we did, I'd ask for Whitney and a 2nd. Maybe OTT can send a 3rd with Bishop.
