Amazing what can happen when players actually play the positions they're supposed to play (MPS on the L, Yak on the R)
Too be fair MPS has historically looked better offencively on the right side, especially on the rush. However the difference is now he's found a role on what to do once the team's set up in the offencive zone: drive the front of the net or low slot, and get to loose pucks.
It's nice to see him come out of his sophomore slump and regain his game a bit. He won't be Hossa, but if he can keep playing like this, maybe Erik Cole would be a decent comparable for him.
I've always hoped (perhaps over-optimistically) for him to round into a Jere Lehtinen type for us. Top-6 defensive stalwart who can be the security blanket on a line with stars, but still hold his weight offensively. Not physical, but not a pushover either, fast as hell and good for 40-50 points.
I've expected more of a Dvorak career, which is the same player type but a little bit worse across the board.
I'd be very happy with either. Those are the quality secondary types that help good teams to turn themselves into contenders.
