When you think of the 5-5 of two years ago...

BTW, some interesting facts about Matuidi after he was called one of the best midfielders in Europe by Ancelotti.
He is second in the CL in challenges won, 75% passing success, 11 kms ran per game, 1st in Ligue 1 in interceptions and has played 40 of his team's 41 games. Finally, he is clocked as the fastest DM in Europe.
In the top 3 in almost every CL statistic (challenges, balls won, kms ran, etc...).

BTW, Mediaset says Lucescu would be PSG's next coach.

Evilo, can Bastos play as a striker? Has he played striker for OL?, Or is he a natural winger?

Expect even more Brazilians if that happens.

Actually I was thinking recently how can PSG improve their team and I came to a conclusion that it's going to be extremely tough. Defensively they're great, perhaps an upgrade on Maxwell would be welcomed. In central midfield the names might not be "flashy", but with Matuidi, Veratti and Motta they look very solid and offensively... well, they've got Menez and Gameiro sitting on the bench. I think it'd take a big, marquee signing to really improve them.

Now that was a great match, superb stuff.

Love Matuidi, fantastic piece of business to get him at such a low fee. Wouldn't look out of place at any team in the world I reckon.

PSG needs a better RB back as well. Jallet and Van Der Wiel aren't good enough.

Jallet is fine at RB. RB is a really weak position worldwide. VanderWiel does suck though.

Agreed on the improvements.
They mustn't be individual improvements. Sure buying a great striker or a nice winger would be fine. But individually nearly every PSG player is excellent.
Sirigu is a great goalie.
Defensively, Silva+Sakho is amazing. Alex is a decent backup. Heck, Armand proved he still has it.
In midfield, Chantome, Motta, Matuidi and Verratti, great stuff. For two spots too.
For AM, Pastore, Menez, Lucas are pretty good. Another one could be added maybe.
Ibra, Lavezzi and Gameiro at the forward spots. That's very solid.

But collectively, that's where they fail. These guys are all good, and most are having a very good season. But they don't play well together right now, except from time to time which results in blowouts.

Lyon goes down 4-1 to Bastia lol. This is a weird league.

Looking forward to ASSE-PSG tomorrow though.

PSG can put a hammer on the league, but I'm leaning towards a St Etienne win.

PSG have got a pretty good schedule left.

Home vs Montpellier, Nice, Valenciennes, Brest
Away at Rennes, Troyes, Evian, Lyon, Lorient

Round 36 is Lyon-PSG but it could already be over by then.
Although Lyon schedule isn't that hard either and they have 1 more home game left than PSG.

Already game over in St. Etienne, horrible blunder by Sall, wrongly awarded peno to PSG and looks like we're done here. Shame, I was hoping for a surprise here, too.

How was it wrongly awarded? Sure PSG player was looking for it when he saw the situation would come, but the goalie had no bussiness doing what he was doing.

VanderWiel, what's the story behind him? I haven't followed the french league for long, but this guy is beyond terrible. How can he be playing at this level?

Hyped as the next big thing in Holland. Ajax product. Starter for Holland.

No idea why he's so bad with PSG.

He was hyped a couple of years ago, but even now most Ajax fans were glad they got rid of him. Just hasn't developed as they hoped and they had another young talent coming up in Ricardo Van Rhijn.

Claudiu Keserü getting called up for Romania. I saw he scored tons of goals in Ligues this season, did he finally live up to his potential?

I wouldn't say just yet. But he does seem at ease now in Ligue 2. From what I've seen he also benefits from a great (offensive) system and coach (that I know very well personally as a matter of fact).

So with the new taxes, does this mean the French league will become mediocre with the possibility of one good team in Monaco? Surely no team except PSG and Monaco, would be able to keep its stars, and for PSG to pay Zlatan his salaray with those taxes...

No.
Ligue 1 is already a mediocre league right now, with PSG (and Monaco soon) as heavy clubs.
Lyon are relying on an exceptionnal crop of youngsters, OM are selling and winning 1-0 at best and St Etienne got hot and are close to the CL, but they'll get their ***** kicked if they make it.
Last year a hot team with lucky breaks and a few talented players won the league. Lille was in the CL twice because they had an all-world talent in Hazard. He's gone, they're average again.

Ligue 1's time is done until Europe decides all team must be on equal footing financially and we all know it's not going to happen.

Paris St Germain have criticised and threatened legal action against Joey Barton after the Marseille midfielder used social networking website Twitter to liken Thiago Silva to an "overweight ladyboy".

His tweets are putting himself in a bad light, not Silva. Not sure why they'd want to stop Barton from looking like the clown he is. People are laughing at him, not with him.
