This is laughable. A potential top 3 pick and they unload a small overpaid centerman.

If he, or Brassard, or Anisimov were available...have we reached an asking price from CLB fans?

Dubinsky= Your first-born son

Anisimov= Your first born daughter

Brassard= I dunno, probably a second and a prospect. Maybe a late first if somebody gets really desperate

I can't see them trading Dubinsky so fast. Moving Umberger and Mason as a package for something makes more sense

Don't tempt me.

As for Brassard...cool. Rodin+2nd? What calibre of prospect are we talking here?

2nd + Rodin seems fair. Some team may offer late first.. hopefully.

Montreal was known to be lacking character last season and in needing that, they payed a little higher than market value, which is fine.

The Rangers aren't lacking in character and decided to save that money and spend it elsewhere.

You're judging this whole situation on the equivalent of a quarter of a season, which just isn't fair. Let's wait a little while longer. if the Rangers win a cup in the next year or two, without Prust and Dubinsky, will you still be saying that? How about if they make the finals, or make it as far as they did last year? You can't evaluate the situation right now at the level your attempting to.

I'm glad your happy with Prust, he's a nice player to have. To some teams, he's worth more, to ours, he's not. Same goes for Dubinsky. He's a valuable player to a rebuilding team like CLB. To the Rangers, he was a little to pricey to have and can be replaced.
Telling Habs fans to hold their horses when they think they know something no one else does, when they are on a roll, is impossible. They apparently think we don't know Prust as a player after watching him play for several seasons. They apparently thought we didn't know Gomez after watching him play for several seasons. 20 games is apparently a more accurate sample than 200 games.

When Prust comes back to earth and doesn't produce offensively at all, his contract won't be as sexy. Habs can probably live with that as have been pointed out, they lack those kind of players, but on the Rangers that contract is overpayment, hence we let him go. Sad, I liked him, but I can understand Prust wanting to cash in some, he's earned it. But this notion that they the Habs reinvented the wheel because they "stole" Prust is just ridiculous. Any attempt to try to "rub it in" is futile. Just wait and see.

As for Dubinsky, holy crap am I glad the Rangers got rid of him. He was an offensive black hole his last season for the Rangers, hence he had to go. We got him shipped on his reputation alone. At $4,5m, a guy who sat out twice during contract negotiations, good riddance. Overpaid and overrated. Anyone who thinks he'll be an effective center is wrong, he's better at wing and you can't expect any offensive production whatsoever from there either.

Dubinsky is a 3rd liner on a good team and his contract makes that tough to swallow. When he knew exactly what kind of skills he had, he was quite effective. He drove to the net, he played a no nonsense game. Then he suddenly thought he was Gretzky or something and started doing stuff he can't handle and he looked terrible. He stopped going to the net. He thought he was Alexander Semin but without the talent. As for Anisimov, it's obvious he's quite talented. He has a great snap shot, but his problem is he needs a ton of room to be able to use it. As opponents are so good at closing the gaps in todays game, you can't expect Anisimov to produce regularly either. He can't deke his guy either. If Columbus can find a way to make him more effective in tight situations you have a gamer, otherwise he will be inconsistent and fairly disappointing, you will get the feeling this guy could bring so much more to the table, but he can't.

I actually think Erixon was the best piece in that deal. The question is just if the Columbus organization has the tools to develop him into the defenseman he can become.

Seen this a lot. Personally, I'm concerned that Rodin will ever put it together, esp. in NA. I'm not enamored of any of the Vancouver prospects they're likely willing to move. That said, if multiple teams are interested in Brassard, that, along with Jarmo's willingness to move him, will determine the return. Point being, I can't know whether I'd do Rodin + 2nd without seeing offers from other teams, if there are any. I would guess a deal will be worked for Brassard if Jarmo wants.

You could probably say the same for Dubinsky (staying in thread topic), but it just doesn't feel like something the new FO is likely to do.

Just my opinion,

Columbus finally appears to be headed in the right direction. Since I do not watch them much, there is not much I can say except about Dubinsky, he is a player I think they should keep.

From watching him on the Rangers, he is best used as a center. Rangers in the playoffs under Torts every year would go back to putting him at center after playing him at wing all year. Mostly because Stepan was ineffective.

Sure Dubi is also good along the boards but when used like that, that is what you get, a player on the boards, not one being used where Dubinsky can be most effective offensively, in the middle about 12-15 feet out from the net.

I wish the Rangers were able to keep Dubinsky, not that I would want to reverse the Nash trade, but he would make a good 3rd line center to PK, add some offense and grit to the bottom 6. He is also a player that can move up the roster when injuries happen.

I think that is around the ballpark. Anyway, wouldn't do that trade for reasons already mentioned in this thread.

i would like him to come to the isles legit third line left wing that can take face offs and play physically, i could just imagine how pissed he would be every time he played against the rangers for being traded to columbus

I'm guessing the Canucks would be more interested in Brassard. We'll wait and see if Columbus is willing or interested in moving him.

Curious, what happened to him as a player? He used to be so well regarded and I'm surprised to see him available (according to several Jacket fans).
