This trade doesn't make sense for either team. If Stafford is going to be traded, now is not the time as his trade value is low. Buffalo doesn't need the cap relief of dumping his salary, and certainly won't pick up MORE salary even if it's for one year less. Buffalo has other options to dump salary, and they have many other options at RW than a player like Hemsky. Buffalo needs Cs and D-men (and legit prospects), not wingers.

No way this trade happens.

Hemsky> Stafford IMO...

we need to get grittier in the top 6 and Stafford doesn't bring that...

He's been used as a right wing..but could definitely be effective at left wing due to his right handed shot.

This seems a bit of a strech. Not every right hand shot is effective on the LW and if your only evidence that he'll be effective is his stick hand it's hardly reassuring.
Oilers wouldn't or shouldn't do Hemsky for Stafford as it's lateral at best. Sounds like both teams would be happier looking to move for future assets/ other needs.

Stafford isnt worth Hemsky right now. Hes playing the worst hes ever played. If Stafford gets traded its for picks or he will be packaged in a bigger deal to get someone.

Stafford to Anyone alone would be for a cap dump, prospect and a pick.

I have no idea why Buffalo would be interested in this. They have seen Stafford be an enigma for the last few years. Why trade him for an older, softer version?

It would be an interesting deal, for sure, but would run somewhat contrary to Buffalo's gameplan of getting tougher/harder to play against.
I'd make the trade if I were the Oilers. A bit of a change up and a bigger body

Because Hemsky is significantly better than Stafford. He also isn't exactly softer. Stafford is pretty soft, and doesn't use his size the way he should.

Have you ever watched Stafford play or is your hate for the Oilers blinded your judgement.

Stafford might have size but he doesn't play big. Their best bet is to trade for a big prospect like the Canucks did with Kassian.
Agree with this. Looks like he averages under a hit per game and we already have those on our team (Whitney, Horcoff, etc.)

I dont think Stafford is the rite fit in EDM. I would take Hemsky over Stafford as Hemsky is healthy and playing very well.
