From an AVS point of view I never do that? I wouldn't even do Gardiner + Kessel for Duchene.

I love how shallow this comment makes your analysis look. I'd love to have you as a trading partner, Orr and Kostka for Lindholm ?

What are you talking about. Who wants Kessel. We could have Bozak. He went to the University of Denver for gods sake.
And we could get Liles back. He was an absolute fan favorite. Look at the return he got us. Just imagine how highly our management thinks of him. We NEED him back.
Pff. Kessel....

Can we at least argue with a different team today?????

Duchene and O'Reilly are going nowhere. Stastny, in my humble opinion, is. It's been debated on here more than Obama's birth certificate.

Let's try Colin Wilson or Brayden Schenn for the day... Or maybe Wilson is gonna be a winger from now on but whatever, he's a natural center.

No it's not. Beauchemin is helping a team win games, alot of them, the example you used doesn't hold water

By himself, he doesn't get you a 1C, maybe a young 2 or 3 with upside though.

To be honest I would like that. Would read a thread about this. I do not believe that you have a shot at Wilson but Schenn might be something that could work.
It usually is not the Avs fans mentioning Stazz or Duchene. That is the problem. We are probably more tired of this than you are.

Gardiner for a 1C? Haaah! Hahaahaha!

Absolutely hilarous that anyone in their right mind thinks Gardiner, or Gardiner+ is enough for a team to cough up their 1st line center. Talk about overvaluing like whoa.

Not shocked though. Surprised the proposal isn't Gardiner for a 1C+.

Nah we wouldn't have much of a chance at either of them. Only one that has had some actually decent discussion was a trade involving Gards and Couts.

Statsny

Gagner

Or perhaps to Philly for Brayden Schenn.

Gardiner is a question mark at the moment, why is he still in the AHL?

Yeah but in terms of value those two pieces weren't too far off from each other. Maybe a small plus on our side, only thing not working with it is that they want to keep Couts as a shutdown guy like a J Staal or whatevs.

He had concussion issues and needed some conditioning, now stuck in the AHL because we have so many contracts up and they're all practically waiver eligible. Someone will have to be moved when Lupul comes in though, and likely someone else will also move at that moment to allow us to promote Gards.

The bolded portion had nothing to do with Beauche, I was talking about your analysis of Gardiner. and the fact you dont give him value because he's in the AHL.

If Toronto wasn't in Boston's Division, I'd consider sending Spooner to the Leafs for one of Gardiner or Reilly.

It's about contracts. The leafs are at the maximum 23 man roster and the only way they can bring him up is someone gets injured or they put one of their quality defenceman on waivers to be picked up by another team for basically nothing (which obviously isnt good asset mnagement).

That's why we got rid of Mike Brown when Matt Frattin was taken off IR

Do Leafs fans not believe Kadri can be a #1 center long term?

On a one for one trade, the best we could hope for is something like Drew Shore, and Im not even sure Florida would do that.

I dont buy this "too many contracts" excuse. IF Gardiner was as good as Leaf fans advertised all last year, he could help the big club in the middle of a run at the playoffs. the fact that they are choosing to leave him in the AHL all while having an opportunity to make the playoffs for the first time since 2004 speaks loudly to me.

How about you watch Gardiner for yourself and form your own opinion, instead of taking what leaf fans or leaf haters tell you about him. I wouldn't trade Gardiner for 3 Ryan Spooners, and no im not kidding.

Gardiner suffered a concussion in the AHL and has had a hard time getting back on par with how he was playing last year, plus our defense in the NHL has been playing wonderful, so it really makes no sense to fix something that isn't broken. Honestly watching Gardiner for a couple games it becomes evident that he is going to be a very good player.
