I still see knocks on Toffoli's skating to this day. My guess is those people haven't watched him play since he was drafted.

Vey with three assists; he's now tied for the league lead in that category.

Monarchs up 4-3 with less than ten minutes to go.

And they lost in the SO...

Well if you spend a lot of time in the offensive zone and score a lot of points (Pearson-Vey-Toffoli) than its logical you have a +20. Doesnt necessarily have to be great defense.

But you know what they are saying, the best defense is to attack.

Another thing, I didnt see Toffoli in the line-up tonight ?

Nevermind, he's being recalled. What a surprise.

Monarchs lost 5-4 in a Shoot out blowing a 4 goal lead. This defense just can't handle the pressure of a big lead with the opposing team pressing. They looked great in the first half going up 3-0 and scoring 2 short handed goals (they could've got 4 or 5 shorties) and then they do their usual coasting through the rest of the game act. Pens made it 3-2 after 2 (on a very questionable 2nd goal) and Monarchs game back out with some life got a 4-2 lead a beautiful goal by Andreoff and then just went back into coast mode and blew the lead. Looked uninspired in the shoot out as well. Andreoff, Kozun, and Yellow Horn all literally try the exact same move and all 3 of them failed. Bad loss today as the Pens are right there in the hunt with the Monarchs for the final 3 playoff spots.

Good news however is the Monarchs did get a point and extended their game with at least a point streak to 8 games (6-0-2)

Goals from: Kozun (pp), Legein (sh), Czarnik (sh), & Andreoff

Continuing this from the CHL thread so I don't derail that one:

edit.

And the lines in that game were:

12 Andreoff - 9 Vey - 26 Toffoli
15 Kozun - 19 Weal - 21 Stewart
43 Belan - 24 O'Connor - 16 Legein
11 Bishop - 27 Czarnik - X

d-pairs:

33 Rodney - 4 Deslauriers
5 LoVerde - 7 Bodnarchuk
2 Campbell - 8 Huxley

Because Toffoli is now in LA, could you update lines, please.
I caught your post in the second so I jotted down the lines in the third. Legein played the first two periods but didn't take a shift in the third, not sure what happened there. Vey was about 50/50 on draws, fairly average.

Andreoff - Vey - Czarnik
Yellow Horn - Weal - Kozun (this line rules)
Bishop - O'Connor - Stewart
Belan (rotated on different lines)

Loverde - Bodnarchuk
Deslauriers - Rodney
Campbell - Huxley
Case (rotated)

Jones

--

Yellow Horn had a really nice game, he's working his tail off. Vey was stellar as a distributor. Andreoff scored a nice goal but he was a little sluggish, don't really see the NHL offensive upside. Kozun's skating is still a concern for me, good quickness but his stride is wonky. Weal is rounding out well. Deslauriers has lost a lot of luster, he's not nearly as dynamic as he used to be. Not awful, but he looked painfully average until OT when he stepped up. Stewart's skating is brutal. Liked Bishop.

Huxley beat the hell out of Farnham.

I was gonna say, I'm really surprised how many people seem to have forgotten this kid in our prospect depth chart. He's young, sticky and raw, but the dude has crazy wheels (hahlolz) and great hands.

That was one awesome one sided fight, haven't seen a fight like that in quite a long time.

That was one of the best one sided fights I have seen in a long time, who knew Huxley could fight like that.

Johnson doesn't play because he is just about useless. When he does dress, he only plays a few shifts. Last nights game he didn't play and someone said the Monarchs were short 1 player on the bench, I didn't bother to count how many we're on the bench though.

I'd be interested to see Weal's numbers over the last 20-25 games. He seems to have really picked up the scoring over the last couple months

Its not really that impressive. He picked up his offense, that's for sure, but I wouldnt call him on fire.

Last 25 games / 8 goals and 12 assists.

Based on the difference in numbers in the first 21 games and last 25 games he's basically burning up! Lol! Definitely solid numbers though

Monarchs win! 3-2 over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers

Martin Jones had one of the better games I've seen him play. Made some huge saves tonight! Monarchs blew a 2-0 lead in the 3rd (what else is new) but Deslauriers scored on cannon of a shot with less the 2 minutes to go on the power play! Other goal scorers tonight were Stewart and Kolomatis

Linden Vey had 2 assists tonight and is now tied for 3rd in the league in point with 55 points. Vey also leads the league in assists with 40.

Monarchs are in a dog fight this year for the final few playoff spots in the eastern conference. They are currently in the 8th spot. Monarchs play the Connecticut Whale tomorrow night in Hartford who are 1 point behind them.

I remember years ago T-ghost talking about how good this kid is and what he would turn out to be. Seems everything you said is right.

I can see Nick becoming a fan favorite with his play and intensity.

Another awesome mid-round pick (3rd) for DL and Co.

Maybe slightly off-topic, but the ECHL Ontario Reign are going great guns, having already clinched the Pacific Division and no worse than the #2 seed in the Western Conference playoffs -- and even have a chance of knocking Fort Wayne off their mid-minors attendance title that the Komets have held for years. Two more weeks to go in the Reign's regular season -- if the playoffs were to begin today, they'd be facing the Utah Grizzlies in the first round.

Monarchs lose 3-0 to the Connecticut Whale.

Didn't see much of the game. From what I saw though it appeared the Monarchs had some defensive breakdowns. The Whale goalie seemed to be on his game as well. Tonight's loss snapped a 9 game point streak for the Monarchs.
