The area code of the phone isn't relevant. It's the physical installed location of the line, or cell tower that the calls hit.

Eh. If I'm a free agent WR, I'm looking at what the GM thinks of his QBs and going somewhere else. Of course, I'm probably not signing in Buffalo before this phone call, but that's really neither here nor there. Just seals the deal, if there was ever any hope.

this is barely a story, and will quickly get lost in the shuffle of FA day...thats if the tbn/wgr clownshow lets it...fat chance i suppose.
You don't think that this story, fresh in a free agent's memory, would impact a decision (assuming money is equal)?

Who knows, maybe it works the other way and all the FAs are like "now here's a guy I can dupe!" and they all call Buddy.

Lots of these guys just follow the $$$$. Highest offer often works... not saying I want to overpay.

I think this has zero effect on a free agent's decision.

Fair enough. If I was a free agent WR looking at a Bills team that said literally yesterday that they viewed both their quarterbacks as backups, I'd look somewhere else. I agree that it probably doesn't affect FAs on the defensive side of the ball though.

Is Antoine Winfield still any good? He was just released.

If a WR thought Fitz or Jackson are good starting quarterbacks, but hearing Buddy Nix here changes their minds... they're not very informed.

Yeah, this phone call, while humorous, is a non-story when it comes to FAs.

If they have an internal budget, I'm perfectly OK with spending it at other positions than OG. Wouldn't mind spending a bit of it at LB and CB too. Spending money at RB for a team with an internal budget is a waste IMO.

On the subject of totally ignoring the internal budget, Asomugha will be released by Philly. I thought he still looked pretty decent and wouldn't mind seeing him opposite Gilmore.

Bye Levitre don't let the door hit you on the way out. This dude was all about the money. Thats why we didnt bother with an offer, he wasnt giving no home town discount so **** him.Titans can overpay for a guard with 0 pro bowls. Eric Wood is infinitely better.

Fitzpatrick offerd a restructured contract, he turned it down. Likely being let go.

edit: annnnnd he's gone. Does this change anyones mind who thought Buddy Nix's phone call mattered?

Wow, can't believe they cut him 1 year after signing that contract. They're probably gonna go QB in the 1st round now.

wow, Chris Brown had this ready quickly: http://www.buffalobills.com/news/art...9-00289cfcf8c9

The timing is interesting. Aside from saving actual money, it gives them a lot more room in Free Agency.

T-Jax is a downgrade. Might as well re-sign Vince Young for this year.

This is a polarizing issue. Fitzpatrick was a polarizing topic. There are people like me who didn't mind the guy. Was he great? No. But he was watchable unlike everyone since Flutie. Did he have his faults? Yes. But there are many that just bashed on the guy to bash on him, he was an EASY SCAPEGOAT for a team that had so many other issues.

Levitre 5 year deal with Tennessee per Schefter.

Paul Kruger is being linked to Cleveland, looks like they are working on a deal.

Wouldn't go that far. You basically go into this season with a worse QB in Jackson or with a young QB who will take his lumps and bruises. Not really a good QB in the draft and none that are FA's. It's kind of like quitting your job, you don't quit it until you find a replacement one.
