I think he'll get to play. What with ottawa's whole getting taken to school thing recently. Good for him.

Fel is crazy fast.

Decent trade. Good on Fletcher for getting something back for Kassian. Hopefully the big guy gets the playing time he deserves in Ottawa.

It's like a used car.

We bought it high and sold it low.

Kassian traded for a '14 6th Round pick and D | Nate Schmidt

There. Looks better now.

Liked Kassian as a personality and a heavy but ya, he didn't really have a place with this team anymore. Wish you luck Kassian.

A 6th rounder is so much better than what I'd have expected.

I expected a 7th...

Good guy. Terrible draft pick. I rarely care if any of our former players succeed but I hope he does.

I used to get to see alot of Gopher hockey here in Seattle but this year all that is being shown are the East Coast teams for some reason. (frustrating for a native Minnesotan)

What changed with Schmidt? Why the sudden emergence?

Is he an NHL Dman or would he be moved to a wing?

I hope he finds playing time over in Ottawa because he seems like a nice guy. And remember he is the original "Kassassin" !

He's an NHL Dman. Great skater, great puck skills, great shot.

It hasn't really been a sudden emergence as he scored 41 points last year.

He's absolutely a D man and the only reason he struggled his freshman year is because that dumbass John Hill thought otherwise. Hill was convinced that Schmidt wasn't a D1 defenseman so he put him at forward. Thank god for Mike Guentzel.

About time Kassian was given a chance somewhere else. He never was going to get it here.

A 6th is better than nothing. Nice deal.

Greetings Wild fans, Sens fan here.

Wondering if I can get a more in-depth scouting report on the Kassassin (destined to become one of the greatest nicknames in history ), beyond whats been said here. Sounds like he was pretty well-liked.

On what he brings to the lineup...

He's a big strong guy, he's a very physical player, he's a very willing combatant. With the number of young players and injuries we have on our roster, there has got to be a sense of comfort that they can go out and play without being pushed around, which has happened a couple times here so we just felt it was a need and an addition that, given the opportunity to get one, a guy like this, a big guy, he's a young player and we're hoping that he'll work with our coaches and be a real contributor to our team.

On when fans can expect him to join the team...

He'll hopefully arrive in Ottawa on Wednesday evening and be able to attend practice on Thursday and then travel with the team to Buffalo. We think he's a guy who's going to fit a need at times and it'll be coach's discretion, how he uses him, how he plays him, but I've got to think that size and strength is a big factor for us at this point in time, and a little bit of experience, and I think he'll bring all of that.

On how active he will be in the market...

It depends on how the team plays and the needs of the time. We have a number of bodies now that are hopefully coming back in the near future so we'll just have to see how it plays out and make a decision around trade deadline time if and what we can do with the personnel we have.

below average skater, with hands made of bricks, but hes huge in front of that net, and can pot in a garbage goal or two from time to time.

Most likely will get scratched more than he plays, but hes a nice enforcer willing to fight, which is nice to have, Also he has a great personality. Really engaging on twitter, and i believe he surfs these boards under an anonymous account. I believe you'll enjoy his services for a 6th round pick.

quick edit: don't hunt me down for that hands made of brick comment kassassian! lol best of luck to you bud, ill miss ya.
