If we cam get a 6th for Kassian we should be able to get a 3rd or better for Butch.
Great trade by us, free's up a contract space while giving us a 6th

not true at all, kassian got a 6th rounder cause the sens are injury riddled team, and hes proved he can play the role they were shopping for.

bouchard is playing the worst of his career, after 2 major concussions. No team in their right mind trade anything more than 5-7th for a player that very well may never play in this league again after this year.

i personally don't see a trade at all for bouchard in the near future, cause i think no team wants him. He'll walk as a UFA imo.

Sad to see Kassian go, but I'd rather watch him play (fight?) for another NHL team than not see him at all in the minors.

What changed with Schmidt? Why the sudden emergence?

Is he an NHL Dman or would he be moved to a wing?
His slap shot has been really solid this year. After feeding Bjugsted in the low slot, the Gophers #2 PP strategy was letting Schmidt unleash the dragon.

Sad to see Kassian go...

But it's awesome that we got a 6th for him right after he cleared waivers. GMCF workin' magic.

I'm gonna miss Kassian. When the Wild signed Konopka and Mitchell the bottom 6 got crowded for Kassian, after they signed Parise as well it was looking like the roster was going to be tough to fit Kassian.

Hope he gets to play in Ottawa.

GMCF should thank Frazer McLaren for KO'ing David Dziurzynski.

On joining the Senators...

I'm just incredibly excited. It's going to be a great opportunity, it's a great organization in the country that I was born in and raised in so it's going to be exciting. I think Ottawa's a beautiful city and I've always loved the place. Both me and my fiancée are incredibly excited to be a part of this.

On joining the Sens as a Canadian...

You grow up being a fan of a Canadian team and being a Canadian kid the fan support there is absolutely phenomenal. You always love playing in Canada because those are always really exciting games to be a part of and now I'm going to be a part of a lot more of them and that's very exciting.

On new teammates he knows...

I've known Guillaume Latendresse for quite some time, we're pretty good friends actually from the few years he was with Minnesota and then Mike Lundin as well. I know a couple other guys as well. I know O.B. (Jim O'Brien) too just from skating this summer before the season started. I was just kind of texting back and forth with Gui and he was telling me about the guys and what good group it is and I know it's a younger group and a group I think there's a lot of things to be excited about. It's an organization that I think has a lot of things going for it and, like I said, I'm incredibly excited to be a part of it.
Matt Kassian speaks!

Great move, clears up a contract spot, adds a late pick, and lets Kassian get a chance to play in the NHL.

Is this guy capable of playing a regular shift? Can he be relied on in a 4th line position?

Always liked him and I'm sad to see him go. I guess we're moving away from the pure enforcer type of players and looking more into enforcers that can play normal minutes too.

In short stints, sure. He's not stand-out bad or anything, but you should have some players that are better than him and should be iced more often than him.

Good luck Kassassin!

I always liked the guy. He's a great enforcer, but that's about it.

This is just good for everybody. Kassian gets a chance on another team, we don't lose him nothing on waivers and we even clear up a contract spot!

Good luck in Ottawa Kassian.

Bring on Schmidt!!!!
