Yea, I remember something about the Flyers and Siemens talking and the Flyers told Siemens they were gonna take him at the #8 spot, but then when Couts fell they couldn't say no to him.

However, I don't think the Avs are gonna be moving Siemens anytime soon either. He had a rough start with Saskatoon this year, was something like -15 in the middle of November. But since then he has went on an absolute tear for them shutting down opposition's top lines on a nightly basis, and is now a team leading +34.

He seems like someone who would eventually be a lot like Adam Foote was with us. Nasty guy who's a rock defensively, hits everything, will fight for his teammates. Only difference being Siemens is probably a better skater.

I don't think the Avs would move Siemens.

Flyers might be trading someone?

Kings with some young D playing very well, and Toffoli brought up out of the blue?

Not a stretch to suggest these 2 might be working on something.

We don't really have the system depth to give up Siemens (11th overall) and this years first (8th currently). Besides that's almost as much as Jeff Carter netted in trade. I would love Coburn on the Avs but doubt we have the pieces to afford him.

A big thing for the Avs is that EJ doesn't have the offensive abilities we were hoping he would. Coburn is a great player but if we were to give a big package like that to get him a partner I would hope for someone with more offensive upside.

Those last 2 really, REALLY interest me. Moreso the first one because it's only a 3rd, not a 2nd.

With Gustafsson being loaned it sounds more like they're not trading a defenseman to acquire one. That opens speculation about picks/prospects, particularly with the fact that they cleared up a contract slot today.

Of course its going to tempt you. That's really bad for the Avs.

Wouldn't move our 1st AND Siemens for Coburn. That is just to much.

Coburn has good offensive abilities but here he was asked to take on a more defensive role. His first season here was pretty good

A team would have to be completely blind to be trading for Coburn for his "good offensive abilities."

I think it would be incredibly shortsighted to trade Coburn(also think there's little to no chance of it happening, more of quick judgments by our fans in speculation) ...but even so, you're putting on a poker face if you're trying to play it off as if Coburn is merely just used defensively.

Coburn isn't going to solve anyones offense on the backside.

I'm a big fan of Coburn's skillset but I find that he's very similar to EJ in that the offensive tools are there but for whatever reason the production isn't. After giving up Stewart and Shattenkirk for a guy like that in EJ I don't think we can afford to make another risky trade like that for Coburn. I don't think we could realistically add much to our 1st but I understand that Philly would have no reason to do a trade like that.

Contracts could be for random signings (college players), but the fact that Gus has been loaned to ADK (haven't seen anything about it yet though) makes it interesting. Why would they loan him if there isn't someone coming to take his spot? Unless they want Foster to play.

Ewww.

Anyway, it seems weird that Laviolette would suddenly want Foster and/or Gervais to play when he's praised Gustafsson for his level of play. Gus belongs in the lineup over both Gervais and Foster. That's what makes this odd.

Oh well. Apparently nothing is happening on the trade front

Just been told that Gustafsson's inconsistent play was the reason for sending him down and nothing is pending trade wise for the #Flyers

Gus isn't that much inconsistent. Who's gonna take his spot? Someone who's consistently bad? It really smells fishy.

That's not really true at all. People have known for a while this year's is very good, just like they knew last year's wasn't and next year's isn't. People say statements like yours all the time, and can never back it up. Mainly because it's complete rubbish.

Toffoli was called up in case Richards was injured and wasnt ready to go this week. Richards took a high hit over the weekend and had to leave the game.
Wouldnt shock me if Toffoli is back in Manchester by the weekend.
