It's one thing to be upset after a loss, especially when reporters seem to "intentionally" push his buttons. HOWEVER, his professionalism is quite pathetic. He needs realize their are expectations for coaching in the NHL, which include media availability. Dude is a *****.

Best part was asking the media what his team said.

Love Torts wish he could coach the Sharks.

This coach isn't fit for the Rangers roster right now. it was 2 years ago, not now.

The tirade on Sam Rosen was just completely unnecessary. Brooks, some Ottawa guys, ribbing Leonard-that's OK. But you better be nice to Sam Rosen.

I met him a few years back at the Rock. He is a swell guy, and he is a big part of the Rangers franchise, he is not just some reporter. He is like Doc to the Devils. If anyone ever talked like that to Doc I would be livid. Show respect to guys who deserve it, Sam deserved the respect he didn't get from Torts.

Torts is a coach with a 3, maybe 4 year shelf life for the team he coaches.

With the talent he has, making the playoffs simply isn't enough - nothing less than the conference final will do.

I suspect his time as Rangers coach will be coming to an end this year.

I'm upset with Torts. Sam is huge for us and is well respected. Basically what you said. He's our Doc.
B and G guy is right. Torts coach types are only good until the players grow tired of destructive criticism and screaming... Rangers aren't there yet, but their players are too skilled to just grind.

Man, if I were a Rangers fan this act would be wearing thin. Calling out the team in the media while accepting no responsibility himself. He's the one calling the shots and rolling the lines but it's always the team that played like crap. Maybe the Rangers aren't struggling. Maybe they're trying to get their moron coach fired.

He put Micheal Haley on our top line, I kid you not.

Haley on top line? Coach is retarded in my book now.

And yet he's seen as a brilliant coach. I've never seen one man get so much mileage out of one good year.

Haley actually could have had 2 goals tonight, thats the scary part. Enroth stole the game IMO.

Let's do it this way.

McClellan to NY.

Tortorella to Philly.

Laviolette to San Jose.

I think those coaches suit these teams better than their present.

He can maximize the grinders on a team. He doesn't know what he's doing with skilled players. Why am I seeing Nash, Richards, Gaborik grinding away in the corners? They should be working to get into the slot and fire, not try to score on a wraparound from behind the net. Lundqvist was insane last year. The system causes half of the shots to be blocked, but the other half get through to Lundqvist, with his own guys screening him. Isn't that lovely?

He was very good. Yes. Still doesn't negate the fact that the coach sucks at adapting and playing skill to advantage.

I think last year they played for themselves, and they kind of "coached" eachother.

His rants are crafted though.

He simultaneously chews them out in the media, while drawing all the public heat to himself.

He's using the media as a coaching tool. This stuff isn't for any of us, or even the media, it's all meant for his dressing room.

He acts all put out, but he loves every second.
