Alright, as a Rangers fan this is how I see Torts.

1.) He really pisses me off with his antics and blame and unprofessional interviews. The way he snapped at Sam was a completely new low. But with that said, it is super clear to the players that losing games like they played tonight is unacceptable. And let's face it, it was an unacceptable loss. Buffalo is not an amazing team and the Rangers should have won. Period. Change the unprofessional way Tortorella worded his interview, and it's just as truthful, it just sounds more pleasant.

2.) The Rangers put win streaks together under this guy. He has had a huge part in crafting this team and you can't argue that this has been an overall succesful team since he took over behind the bench.

So in a nutshell I've learned to deal with his unprofessional crap (except a few weeks ago when I wanted him canned, but I came back to my senses) because we win under him. Sometime's they're really ugly wins, but the Rangers still win under him.

I think those coaches suit these teams better than their present.

Lavy and Torts are similar in philosophy though.

He acts all put out, but he loves every second.
I totally agree, and I also think he has a bit of a hidden agenda. He knows that with that style, he is not going to have a ten year coaching run, but it might get him a thirty year TV gig (Don Cherry) some day. It also sells the team in his market, comes off as brash which is what he wants his team to be, etc.

It serves a lot of purposes, actually.

I can get behind this. I don't want Tortorella, but I am a huge fan of Laviolette.

Stepan, Hagelin, McD, Del Zotto, Sauer all developed very well under him. JT Miller is a turnover machine right now, but apparently that doesn't seem to bother Torts because he likes his Mojo. (and he's 19.) I don't like how he was playing yoyo with Kreider. That got annoying very quickly.

One season that im willing to admit was overachievement.

Thats all hes good for.

This team is not the same team as last year. Theyre older, wiser, more talented now. He needs to adjust. He doesnt adjust.

As a coach you play to your teams strengths.

Blocking shots and grinding gets taxing after awhile, and your locker room rants and as demonstrated, post game rants.

I think McClellan could get open the offense up a bit and get something better than Torts can outta our top guns.

Or I could just be watching too many SJ games (hasnt looked good lately).

Torts is better with defense and tactically, which are both tings the Flyers need.

It's the type where he says his opponent was terrible and finds it pathetic that his own team was worse.

This is where I absolutely lost it with Torts. I can't cheer for him anymore. You just don't do that to Sam Rosen.

Tortorella's a clown. Would hate someone like that as the pens coach. It's a part of his freakin job to answer media questions...it's pathetic how mad and cranky he gets at legitimate questions.

He's a petulant child.

I'm not sure what kind of magical situation he fell into that year in Tampa but he's achieved little since.

Torts is an embarrassment. I'd hate for that arrogant sideshow clown to coach the Pens.

Don't think Sam Rosen deserves it. The guy is a legend and a huge part of the Rangers organization.

I would agree that the way he talked to Sam wasn't very nice at all. I can understand why he might be frustrated but these people are just doing their jobs.
