Do Reilly Smith or Matt Fraser have futures in the top six? That might be wishful thinking.
But let's go ahead and draw some conclusions anyways, right.

Roster moves are the GM's doing. Unless you can prove Gully wanted this move made through quotes (maybe he did and I just missed it somewhere), you can't pin that on him just yet.

I also did acknowledge this...

The young guys haven't had long enough to prove much of anything regarding their future. The one that has you've somehow capped as a 3rd line center despite outplaying and looking better than most teams' #2 centers.

I'm not trying to "pin" anything on him. I just think you're insane if you think the GM is recalling and demoting players willy nilly. That's not how things are done and if that's how they are being done in this organization then we should merge this thread and the Fire Nieuwendyk thread.

And I did agree in that I believe Gully wanted this move to be made. Unless you feel that I'm being self-contradictory, I'm not sure what the issue is here.

I'd take Lindy Ruff.
He's much better at coaching and has better connections in terms of assistant coaches then Gully does.

You implied lone wolf actions by the GM which the coach simply has to react to.

But the coach doesn't run the team, does he?

To a greater degree than you said. I don't know why we're arguing about what is pretty well known. GM's for good teams don't send a player whom the coach is planning on using without discussing it with the coach. That's not the coach running the team that's called communication.

I don't think he should be fired, but he needs to grow up a bit for the NHL game. And maybe get a haircut.

Larsen back to the bench because he didn't have a hat trick last game. Don't worry though, Jordie Benn is still in.

Everyone has been focused on GM Joe, but I noticed this towards the bottom of Heika's blog:

Quote:
[Gaglardi] also stressed that while he will make decisions on the front office, management will make decisions on the coaching staff.
That would insinuate that Gaglardi was only talking about Joe. If Joe saw fit, based on that quote he could technically still fire Gulutzan. Obviously Gully survived the 8-1 loss, but it's not like it would be shocking for a change to come after a few more losses. Curt Fraser wasn't just added as a veteran voice for Gully. He's also a ready-made interim if it comes to firing Gulutzan.

If the team doesn't do a 180 this week, I can't really see them sticking with him.

It may be important to read that as the order of the decisions as well. I take that to mean Gaglardi is not going to be in the business of hiring and firing coaches. He will leave that to his GM, but he still first has to make a decision about the GM.

And I also kind of assume that if he gets rid of Joe, the coach is all but gone as well. If not immediately, then as soon as we hire a new GM.

No doubt, if Joe doesn't survive...there's no way Gully does.

Am interested to see what happens after this next three game stretch. Currently on a four game losing streak, if we lose the next two and go into LA and get hammered and end up on a 7 game losing streak, does Gully survive that for another game as well?

Don't think it'll get that far, but wouldn't shock me to see us lose at Colorado and at Los Angeles (especially since the LA game is a back end of a back to back), and Calgary has already proven that they can easily beat us.

From the Dallas Morning News Stars Blog.

What Tim Cowlishaw got out of an interview with Gaglardi:

Quote:
General manager Joe Nieuwendyk and coach Glen Gulutzan are in no danger of losing their jobs during the season. Once we get to this summer and the time to look toward next season … anything is possible.
