What can Brown do for you?

The UPS man delivers! Mike Brown's first as an Oiler. Nice goal. Good hard working shift. I've really noticed his speed since coming over. I'm glad we have a functioning hockey player that can also fight as opposed to a fighter that can't keep up with the play.

Here's a video of a fight.

Better than a fourth round pick who won't make an impact until 2017 at the earliest.

I want this guy on our team long term on the 4th line. Bring energy, hits, fights, and is the exact type of player we need on line 4.

As long as he stays healthy, he's a good player to have. an upgrade on Eager for sure.

Dude has the same birthday as me.

He loves facial hair too.

Instant winner.

I am glad you guys are enjoying him. 2 great fights and a goal so far! I miss Brown in TO but we had too many 4th liners with more size and he was taking bad penalties. Please sign him long term, so we do not have to see him back in the East in the future

Got to think Eager is out with Brown in. Both are physical guys with minimum offensive skills.

Difference is Brown fights and takes less stupid penalties.

Jones/Petrell both bring some speed and physicality. Smyth is pretty bad but has contributed to some big goals. Also Tambo wont get rid of Smyth (old boy Oilers club) Hopefully we land a fourth for him.

Would also rather have Harti in AHL to further development. Id want MPS,Brown, Petrell, Smyth, Jones as bottom 6/7 wingers (Mps plays with Gagner more often)

This guy has been awsome so far. He has done everything asked of him. I wish he'd bring back the handle bars. I heard he can block shots with that thing!

Brown is getting a lot more ice time here than he did in TO. I think he appreciates the opportunity, and is obviously making the most of it.

Re-reading the original Brown trade thread, a lot of posters just look silly now.

I was way way wrong about this guy. Figured we were getting another bonehead Eager player but he's so much better than Ben at the role he needs to play that it's not even funny.

The fourth line was quite good tonight and he was a big part of it. Glad to say that I was way off base on Brown.

This is why you wait until the player plays for us before making huge assumptions. Things like "runt" and other insults were being thrown around, and it was really embarrassing.

Still early, but so far so good.

Brown>>>> Eager

fast, hits, wins fights and can actually protect the puck and muck it up in the corners

EXACTLY with a 4th liner should do

Love this guy, hopefully we plays consistantly like this. Embraces the 4th line role

I think Eager is gone if somebody has interest in him.

Definitely. At $1.1M this season and next (or something close to that) he's not a bad pickup for a playoff team.

He's been everything we could have hoped for so far. Looks good cycling the puck with Smyth, and tough as nails.

I agree...this means Eager is done. If someone offers an 8th round pick, and we still have to retain half of Eager's salary i'd still pull the trigger.

Too bad Eager has decent hands and can skate but he never really settled in here. Too many up and down shifts and so many bad penalties.

As mentioned in the PGT, Brown's first home game will be Friday vs Detroit. Hopefully we can get a scrap with Tootoo so the fans at Rexall better show him some love!

Great 4th liner. Hopefully, we've seen the last of Eager around these parts. Trade Belanger too and bring in a Steckel type 4th line center to take draws and PK.
