Butch is probably going back into the line up with this injury. If for nothing else then to piss MiG off in houston while allowing us to trade PMB for a CB or something.

To me, Clark sound like Zanon but with more offensive ability. Hell, why not. Get rid of Prosser, bump Falk down to being the 7th d-man, and roll with:

Suter - Brodin
Clark - Gilbert
Stoner - Spurgeon
Falk
Those look like serviceable 2nd and third pairings.

Good signing I like it, gives up depth and another top 4 D.

Doesn't make a lot of sense, but whatever.

Per #NHL sources, the #mnwild has indeed signed veteran defenseman Brett Clark. Will take physical today; if he passes, joins tomorrow

Well hopefully we see a trade soon so we can know why he was signed.

Clark is putting up some very good numbers and definitely an upgrade over Falk. Falk has not been good at all. I dont like the plus/minus stat much but he has been a -7 with pretty sheltered minutes. I get the whole right/left handed argument for pairings but Prosser has been a lot better. One of those two is probably on the move though...

Expecting a trade involving one of our d-men pretty soon. That seems to be the only reason in my mind why we would do this...

After thinking about this a little more I am guessing that Prosser is going on waivers and Fletcher has checked around the league and know teams will put in a claim so The Wild can still stay at 48 contracts. He can be a 6 defensemen on a lot of teams out there that are riddled with injuries. Also I am guessing the Wild don’t want his one way on the books next year if they don’t see him as part of the future. Will already have Suter, Brodin, Gilbert, Spurgeon, Stoner and then have free agent options for last spot, Scandella, RFA Falk or Dumba which is probably unlikely.

Re-arranging the bottom pairing defense is shuffling the deck chairs at this point. Wild either need to bring in some goal scorers, move some dead weight up front, or both.

Per Russo it's a done deal

Sorry, I just can't get excited over this move. Still sick to my stomach about Zucker and the Wild being completely inept offensively.

Good point in the article, what does this say about Scandella?

Nothing good thats for sure. It also doesn't say anything good about Prosser or Falk.

Got to assume that at least one of the three is gone soon, right?

We've given up more than 3 goals exactly twice in the last month and a half, so we sign a defenseman? Where's that Jaguars fan .gif when I need it?

Supposedly Clark's a decent PMD who can shoot from the point. Could bring some offense.

gotta think this has been being worked on for a little while. probably since the time the wild were dropping more games than they were winning and all the experts on HFBoards were complaining about our bottom three defensemen. The timing is incidental.

Settle down people...At worst, this is a depth signing on defense. Outside of Suter and Gilbert, our blueline is fairly young and has no playoff experience. Doesn't hurt to add some veteran experience.

At best, this could be a precursor to something else going on.

Either way, this doesn't hurt. Not very FA signing needs to be a "sexy" one.

Unless there is some sort of trade going-on, this makes zero sense. Makes one think that Fletch has a screw loose as they say. Seems like Paul Mara down in Houston would fit the bill without spending the money. Younger than Clark, bigger, appears to have better NHL career stats. I don't know how Clark lockerroom experience would be any better than Mara's.

Kampfer, Connolly, etc. are also there.
