I thought last year he did a heck of a job.

This year? Not so much.

And you just don't talk to Sam Rosen like that.

What did he say to Sam?

That'd piss me off if he got snotty with a class act like Rosen if I was a ranger fan. That's almost crossing the line - what'd he say/do, though?

He didn't have a problem with the media when he took a job for TSN...

He blasts his own team for not playing up to their skill level. Well, Torts, it's not like finding a way to motivate your players was your JOB, or anything.

How many time did he openly criticized his own team in a post game interview this year? Yet I hardly remember it actually doing anything. Einstein's definition of insanity was trying the same things and expecting different result. Yup, he be mad.

The Rangers are the anti-senators this year. Achieving so little while having so much.

I'm over this guy. With the talent on the team there's no reason to be grinding every night. It's clearly not working but he refuses to change it up, and then he bites into Sam Rosen? You don't do that to Sam Rosen. He's not Brooksie.

Pipe down, Torts.

Don't think his media scrums should influence his ability as a coach: nevertheless, most of it is unwarranted.

That being said; he needs to get his **** together as a coach..

I think the Rangers are missing the depth they had in previous years (don't watch them much however, and I know Nash is playing well, but the losses of Zucc, Anisimov, and Dubinsky seems noticeable).

I think he might be overdoing it. He's had a bunch of these press conferences this year. There is no upside to having a go at a team that just beat your team. It'll only give them motivation for the future.

He's called out players quite a bit lately. He better hope the team doesn't turn on him.

Pfft, whatever, I just ignore the dope.

He's a grown man, yet he wants to act like a whiny, petulant, insolent teenager. Have some respect for other people for once. I have no patience for the way he treats the media.

I've never been a Tortorella fan, I wasn't happy when the team hired him.

New low last night. Lay off Sam, you ****.

Once again, Totorella finds a way to be bigger than his team. He shouldn't be the show, let alone be in the show.

Hmm, I'm a bit worried Torts is riding this team a bit too hard and his message is starting to fall on deaf ears.

That being said, I'm glad to hear him call out some of the top players from the Rangers. Besides Callahan and Stepan no one really showed up for the game.

I hope he isn't this negative all the time in the dressing room when the team loses.

To be fair, I think a lot of times it can be good to deflect media from players' poor performance and put it on himself.

But I also think there is a time and place to call out his players and honestly answer questions regarding his players poor play, and I thought he should have done that last night.

1.) He really pisses me off with his antics and blame and unprofessional interviews. The way he snapped at Sam was a completely new low. But with that said, it is super clear to the players that losing games like they played tonight is unacceptable. And let's face it, it was an unacceptable loss. Buffalo is not an amazing team and the Rangers should have won. Period. Change the unprofessional way Tortorella worded his interview, and it's just as truthful, it just sounds more pleasant.

2.) The Rangers put win streaks together under this guy. He has had a huge part in crafting this team and you can't argue that this has been an overall succesful team since he took over behind the bench.

So in a nutshell I've learned to deal with his unprofessional crap (except a few weeks ago when I wanted him canned, but I came back to my senses) because we win under him. Sometime's they're really ugly wins, but the Rangers still win under him.
Rangers were awful that game. The Rangers are barely in the playoffs right now. It shouldnt take an amazing performance to beat them.

Tortorella takes no blame for his terrible coaching rather he blames the players then snaps at Rosen who is only doing his job. If you cant take the heat leave the kitchen. Torts is a jackass plain and simple. The NY media are going to grill him. He acts like a schoolyard bully. Big deal he won a cup.

What success? The NYR have more talent then most and are barely a playoff team if the season ended now. I actually hope they keep the clown.

If he used this "tactic" sparingly, I would agree. It happens way too often to do so. And he always puts blame on his team so that's all part of the show, too.

Have to agree. Its not the media's fault that you lost John - that is on you. And for all your whining about sucking, you outshot and outchanced the Sabres.

I guess the team was lucky this wasn't the most embarrassing game JT was ever involved in, for at least the last two weeks.

You do have to think that this gets old for the players.

And Sam just asked Torts a real softball question about consistency. It wasn't like SR fired some loaded question either.

What an ***hole, just give the media a couple of quotes so they can write their stories and make a living. Post game interviews are part of your job, do you really have to treat everyone like ****?

It's just unnecessary and unprofessional. He's not even putting himself out there to distract how bad the team is doing, he's calling them out at the same time and trying to deflect himself from being blamed and putting it on them.

No **** man. I'm so sick of Boucher's "We have to trust the process." "The process is going great, we're just not getting the results." "The results will come if we stick to the process."

Whatever your "process" is, it's producing losses, and lots of them.

Noel has taken over from Torterella as the best post game interview in my mind. Noel is funny as heck whether the wants to be or not.

I'm sure the media doesn't mind, they end up getting a bigger story about Torts blowing up instead of some generic quotes.
