Obviously too many bodies, but come on.
I'm pretty sure he tried to move him. You don't waive a first and then make calls to a GM.

Dan Tencer ‏@dantencer
Eager on waivers today...simply, they found a more effective player in Brown. With the amount of bodies here, the team needed to trim.

I sure hope the Oilers weren't trying to force Eager to fight right after his concussion.

Eager cant fight and is not consistent...
Brown is the opposite.

Teams dont like paying 1.1M to 4th line grinders\PB

Didn't see that coming.

I'm shocked, to tell the truth.
Did not see that coming.

I like it. Brown came in a showed us what it is like to play physical and fight. Ben has had concussion issues and is not his former self.

Here is to hoping he gets claimed. Makes me wonder though, Tambo would of been shopping him and no body would give up a pick I am assuming, not even a 4th?

I think Petrell needs to be moved if someone can take him, or waived as well.

Could have gotten a 4th for him or a conditional 3rd.

Hockey IQ of a piece of tinfoil, injury history and attitude problems. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see him go unclaimed.

seriously? if that were the case he wouldn't have been put on waivers. not all teams are as dumb as Edmonton.
his value is zero. not a 4th or 3rd round pick.
Just like why we should have waited to get Brown on waivers .

Really wasn't an effective player. Played well for about 10 total games in the last 2 years. Too bad as i like the signing initially but never really worked out.

Why? just because he doesnt fight??
The guy is great on defensively esp on PK and skate against any NHL line without looking lost.
He is UFA after this season anyways

Other teams were apparently offering 4th round picks for Brown as well. Never would've been put on waivers.

Wouldn't go that far. Pretty slow and bad at puck movement/zone exits.

Agree about the pk ability, still a useful player.

fair enough.

I do believe that if the Oilers could have gotten a 4th for Eager, they would have.
I honestly feel he doesn't have that kind of value, so hence the waiver wire.

Well he's outhitting Brown this year. In that department, might be a little case of the grass is greener on the other side.

I think Eager gave it his best to embrace the role asked of him, I think it's just unfortunate that the concussion occurred, he obviously was willing to fight before it, and since then he hasn't fought. I can't blame him or criticize him for that. If it didn't happen, I think we might be singing a different tune about Eager.

Nonetheless, Brown also gets raved about in terms of his attitude and character, Eager you hear grumblings about the opposite every now and then. Combine that with the price tag, I definitely think Brown is a better fit for this role on this team moving forward.

Wow. I guess Mike Brown made him expendable. Didn't see this coming though. I hope someone claims him, he has some useful tools. No need in having contracts wasted on minor league muscle either.
