Forget about Corvo already?

Didn't we give up a 5th rounder for him?

What did you expect?

Fourth rounder...and believe it or not, that used to be fairly common for deadline deals...back in the good 'ol days.

No one remembers how good he was when he came over from Chicago at the deadline the year before the lockout.

He got a raw deal for his play this season, but at the end of the year he was pretty good.

between Mark Hardly and John VanCrapsmear, it's not like any of the marginal defensemen were coached well enough to say that they were playing up to their potential. Dempsey, a 7th guy for Toronto for a lot of years, went to a depleted Chicago team and excelled enough that his value became high enough for a trade to another crappy non-playoff team, where he played up/down to the level of the product on the ice. He'll be reasonably invisible in Boston. Still a 7th guy...

No. Corvo is 10 times the defenseman Dempsey is.

I'm still trying to figure out why 99% of the Kings fans on the internet think Sopel sucks.

You don't say. 10 whole times?
I, actually, wouldn't be surprised if Dempsey comes close to matching Corvo's production next year. Boston got themselves a really good bargain.

Corvo was the better offensive performer, but when he was playing well Dempsey was stronger defensively. Plus, you have to give the guy some credit for actually raising his game in the second half of last season while almost everyone else on the team was in some semblance of crashing.

Re: thinking Sopel sucks- because that's all he's done as a member of our team so far. I do think he played well enough for Crow in Vancouver, so hopefully that performance will come back this season. Personally I don't think he SUCKS, but - in a cap era - he's not worth the dollars that the team could be using on someone else. I'd love for him to prove me wrong.

Because he was brutal with the Islanders, and never did a whole hell of a lot to make Vancouver a better defensive team. He's really just passing through, and in 5 to 10 years you will barely remember that he was a King.
