apparently he's had concussion problems and doesn't want to fight anymore. i'm just going on what i read in their thread.

on another note, i just noticed that the ducks are only 4 points behind us and have played one fewer games. i don't like that

Eager has had some injury issues and not been very good since the Hawks trade him

I could see him clearing waiver pretty easy

Well, the concussions are a major issue. If he doesn't want to fight anymore, he won't last. He could have been a better hockey player but he chose to be a goon and now that is what he is. What separated him from other goons, like Carcillo, was his skating and ability to chip in decent offense from the 4th line.

He definitely has some wheels. Was a great energy guy for the fourth line, and like you said, could chip in a goal here and there.

If I knew we were getting the same guy we had back then, I'd suggest Bowman make a claim but I guess injuries and a change of attitude mean he isn't the same guy. I'll never forget that goal against Philly, about 9 seconds after we just scored when he roofed it on Leighton.

Corey Perry gets 4 games for his cheap shot the other night.

Rob Blake with the facts this time, NO SHANNY!?

Wow... did not expect him to actually get 4 games. Very surprised by that.

Yeah I didn't think he'd get that many games either. Seems pretty fair, but I'm biased cause I can't stand Perry.

Hawks picking up a 4.4M 3rd line winger isn't reasonable with cap declining

It's upsetting that his hit is just like other hits you see a few times a game, in fact, I'd say the Pacific teams as a whole play about as physical and grinding a game as any other division in the league. Whatever, if the league was serious they would suspend more players right from the beginning of the season for dirty hits when the opposing player didn't become injured from the play.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. So McSorely type swing on a guys head who doesn't get injured will get punished less then the guy who lays a questionable hit but results in a freak injury. You punish the play not the result. An injury can be from anything and using that to judge the play is ridiculous.

But anyways, liked the explanation and think 4 games for Perry is fair. If Zucker wouldn't have been injured, he would have gotten maybe 1. They need to not worry about whether or not a player gets injured and suspend players the same amount of time based on the hit.

I think a good compromise would be to suspend according to the play, with the option to revisit the term of the suspension before the suspension has been served in it's entirety. If the player that was fouled ends up as injured, tack on more time. That would give the players something to think about before they disrespect a vulnerable opponent. Unfortunately the players own union is likely their worst enemy, as the NHLPA would likely intervene before allowing that.

As far as I'm concerned, it is the NHLPA that needs to clean up this mess. Penalize it's own players separately from the NHL decision. It wouldn't be feasible to apply a suspension to an offender, but huge fines from one's own organization could work wonders to put an end to this chronic problem.

i don't get the mainboard at all. how anyone can look at that deny that it was both late and to the head is beyond me. i don't necessarily think there's any malicious intent, but a suspension was warranted. i was thinking a game or two, but i guess he does have a"history", however short it is

There coach and GM need to be fired and they aren't winning anything with Bryzgalov as there goalie

Flyers and Caps continue to dig themselves bigger holes with time slowly running out

With Flyers you always want to think they have a run in them but they did lose a bunch of scoring in offseason (JVR , Jagr and Carle) that they didn't replance

Still I wont count out the Flyers just yet

Caps are done
