Where do you think the Habs will finish in the standings.

I did a little stats juggling to see how 'real' this Habs team is and it confirms my belief that the Habs are a top 6 team in NHL right now. The stats I used are the sum of PDO and Fenwick Close to come up with what a ranking of all 30 teams in the league (see below).

Where do you think the Habs will finish this year?

Not to worry about the Leafs. Stats show them ranked 22nd well out of a playoff spot. I think i hear the 18 wheeler brakes squealing already!

I'd say 4th. Which I'd prefer if the Rangers stay in 8th because they strike me as a team that's underachieving and will do some damage come playoff time. And you know Lundqvist will be a beast. I'd take Ottawa, NJ or Toronto in round 1 any day over them.

i think 4th place is where they'll finish but i could honestly see them finishing ahead of Boston and finish 2nd (the penguins will take first in the east)

I'm hoping 1st, 2nd or 4th.. but am not sold yet. I've been burnt by this team too many times. 7/8 is still possible and very real.

If it's the Habs I know and love from the last 20 years, 6-8 in the conference.

Sorry kids, Old Man Tusk has seen this before and isn't getting ahead of himself.

Yep. Every game is a big game until there's an X next to the Montreal Canadiens in the NHL standings.

4th. Still think Boston will win the division

But i placed the Habs 12 or 13th in the conference at the beginning of the season so that's much much above my expectations

I know what you are saying.......I have been through this for the last 30 years........but..........there is something............. something very special with this group....not sure if it is coaching (MT).......... management (MB and crew especially Timmins)........... rookies (gally's)......... Subban (future Norris vote)........... Price (Elite).......... Patches (Wolverine)........Pleks (Selke candidate)...........and of course as far as I am concerned the best UFA signing in the offseason Brandon Prust.

You also cant forget Eller, Emelin, DD, and the list goes on.

I have watched as many games this year as possible and this team is not going to not make the playoffs.
After that who knows.

Feels a little like 1986... an underrated Habs team that came out of nowhere to win the cup. If Price can bring his game up a notch anything is possible.

4th.

A series against Toronto would be awesome. It didn't happen since 1979 !

This team is better than the 2008 edition. 2008 was a cinderella season. This season, something is uniting this team, with a nice blend of raw talent and clear intentions to win it all.

It's up to MB to put the icing on the cake before trade deadline.

I actually believe at this point they are gonna finish 1st. The way I see it, the habs are a more classy version of the bruins, meaning that they can match up most of the bruins best in their respective role.

I fear the pens though. It could be an awesome match-up of almost prefect built team vs over the top talent.

My first real Habs memories, although they are faint as I was 8. Unfortunately 89' is ingrained in my head but so is 93'!

It doesn't matter.

What matters is having no injuries.

The main difference is the 2008 team had no grit and depended on the power play. This team is way grittier... but in the end Price has to be the Habs best player to go far this spring!
