Honestly, I think Byfuglien is the perfect (realistic) defenseman for this team and the issues we have.

The team should be able to deal with the hit next year and still make the moves they want to make (save for maybe Perry).
Somebdy on the Calgary board said that J-Bo is a defensive defenseman. Don't know if that's true, but we really do need a puck-mover.

Agreed. Right handed, big, defensively adequate (not great, and his weak point, but can be worked on), but very dynamic in the offensive zone. Has a great first pass and a huge shot. Also a good skater and physical.

And he's only 26/27.

Timonen can put up points on the power play and with passing, but he doesn't join the rush much. I think that's the element we are missing. We need a puck rusher, big time.

The good skater part with his weight and size is definitely mind boggling. Him going coast to coast is awesome to watch.

We'd probably have to give up Coburn+ for Buff.

It's shocking, plus he has pretty damn good hands too if you've seen him stick handle.

EDIT: To add, for somebody who seems out of shape, he can log a ton of minutes still.

If he is out of shape right now, I can't wait to see when he is in shape.

Byfuglien is one of only 3 defensemen Winnipeg has signed for next year. I am not so sure why they would trade him and take a step back, especially when they are on the cusp of making the playoffs this year.

I'd be okay with Byfuglien just to hear Pierre McGuire talk with him

Is Trouba going to be ready next season? If he is, then they could technically go full time new Coburn and Postma, and then Trouba to the mix. Those are three skilled people right there for defensemen, and all big bodies too.

Big Ol Dufflin Bufflin is a Rock Star in this town. Once Trouba comes and they have Trouba and Bogo, Buff will get moved. But it is not happening this year unless it is a massive over payment.

Think Coburn, Couts +

0r Coburn, Simmer +

Trouba more than likely will spend another year in college. I don't see the need for Winnipeg to move Byfuglien unless a team overpays for him. I wouldn't be shocked if Winnipeg asked for our 1st in a deal for him.

Secondly why would they want Coburn in a deal for him? They already have enough defensive defensemen. If anything they would want forward help if they were trading Byfuglien.

There's been a lot of speculation that he might go to the NHL after this season because he doesn't look like he's being challenged in College

Pictures like this annoy me. He's turned at an angle so it's making him look bigger than he is

I don't know. He's pretty damned large for an athlete, especially a hockey player.

He's like a football player. Fat, yet still in shape; meaning he can move around without gasping for air and a cheeseburger seconds later.

Kitchener in the OHL could be a possibility too.

If Couburn is the centerpiece for Buff, you get that done...

It will cost us Schenn or Couturier unfortuantely

Well I hope the camera is adding 50lbs, because he looks like a defensive end!

I believe when he got arrested a couple of years ago his weight listed on the police report was 290 lbs.

His physique is not exactly what you would call "chiseled", from any angle.

I thnk he is an all around type of guy when he is at his best. His point production has declined since he got to Calgary, but his last four seasons in Florida his lowest point total was 37 (and three straight years of twelve goals, with back to back 15 goal campaigns). If he can be had for cheap, which I honestly don't know if he can, I would go after him, despite his large cap hit.

Jake Gardiner could be another trade possibility. I don't know what his value would be now but it could cheaper than it was last year.

He could be cheaper, but I don't know how much cheaper compared to Buff. He's younger than Buff, but Buff has a lot of traits that Gardiner doesn't have (size, strength and physicality to go along with the hands and shot).

Coburn + for Big Buff?
Where do I sign?

Jake Gardiner for one of our own prospects would be sweet.

Next year we'd have:

Timonen - BB
Grossmann - Schenn
Gardiner - Meszaros

Gutafsson/Gervais

Me like.
