Uh, have you? It's a very nice place. Especially for young professionals. Not to mention Gaborik has a limited NTC, so who really knows where he does and doesn't want to go?

I would move to Nashville in a heartbeat.

For anyone who thinks NYC is the best place in the US or something, they need to get out more.

Yea but they do have a pretty big slovak population that Gaborik is a part of.

I don't think Sather accepts anything less than:

Fisher/Hornqvist, Ellis, 1st

The first proposal really isn't bad, but we need an established veteran coming back to help us down the stretch. Fisher or Hornqvist instead of Yip and it's a deal.

That's too much depth for one player, no way would Nashville do it.

How about:

Hornqvist + Ellis + 1st for Gaborik
Hornqvist is 6 years younger, will likely be 3-4M cheaper, and is still an RFA this summer.

Considering that in his two full seasons he's scored 30 and 26 goals, I'm not sure the difference between he and Gaborik(only 1 year away from UFA, btw) is Ellis and a first.

If Hornqvist is involved, I don't think NY can ask for much more, otherwise it doesn't really make sense for Nashville to add all of that for 1.5 more years of a guy who may score 10 more goals than Hornqvist.

Hornqvist, Ellis would not be part of this deal.

Give me 4-5 sentences on your perception of Nashville, please.

I'd be reallly curious, having lived in both NYC and Nashville.

The guy obviously hasn't been to Nashville, but again, New York has a big Slovak population, that Nashville certainly doesn't.

While I'm sure Americans would probably enjoy the cleanliness of Nashville to New York, a lot of foreigners love New York because they find communities that they can be a part of. I know for a fact Gaborik is involved with the Slovak community in NYC, so I'm sure that's rather important to him.

Well, we have the largest population of Kurds outside of Kurdistan...so...when the next great Kurdish hockey player comes along, look out...he's not going anywhere else

I'd do the meat of the original proposal: Gaborik for Ellis, Yip, and a 1st. Things get dicey when you try to add Hornqvist to the mix, though he would be a good fit in NYR; guy works insanely hard and could probably handle Torture-ella. He's a 20-30 goal scorer; I'd think about a Hornqvist + Blum + 2nd for Gaborik, but the net impact on our offense isn't that great. It's not that I undervalue Gabby, it's just tough from our perspective; Hornqvist is very much a "bird in the hand" where we know what he is good for. I honestly have no idea how Gaborik performs in our system and I think his production would be worse than it was on the Rags.

Regarding Nashville as a city (and ignoring the Slavic community comment when I can appreciate), I was born on Long Island, lived in CT right outside of NYC for six years, Philly for six years, Nashville for eight years, Charlotte for two years, and DC for one year. Also did an 8,000 mile road trip around the US in 2011 for four months and travel pretty extensively for work. Nashville is by far my favorite city in the U.S. and I have no reason to be biased given where I'm from. Austin, TX is a really close second; love that city.

1) I think the original deal is just a little short of what the Rangers need. Hornqvist or fisher would have to be in there to make it happen.

2) Would love to see gabby pick it up here in NY, but if not, would like to see him go somehwere like Nashville and help them out with their scoring. Obviously would like to see a deal work out for both sides.

3) As a New Yorker............I love nashville and have always been a preds fan. Love what the city of nashville has to offer......even if its not that big. Great place overall.

The first needs to be included.
I downgraded from Ellis to Blum.
I can add a 4th on my side if it makes a difference.

Too much, Hornqvist is a multiple 20 goal scorer entering his prime, Gaborik is on the wrong side of 30 and his contract is more than TWICE what Hornqvist is being paid.

Also Hornqvist is an RFA next year. NYR will have him for MULTIPLE years.

I think at most, it will be Hornqvist +1st for Gaborik. And that is a stretch for NYR's side.

Yea, OK. Gaborik is a multipe 40 goal scorer still in his prime. He is 31 years old.

He's scored 40 goals twice in the past 3 seasons and has over 100 goals in the past 3 seasons.

He scores 20 goals in his crappiest of seasons with ease. You act like multiple 20 goal scorer is something special. Gaborik has scored 30+ 7 out of the last 10 seasons. If you think the difference between he and Hornqvist is a 1st, you're off your rocker.

Hornqvist is considerably younger, and has scored 30 and 26 goals in his two full seasons. He's cheaper, and still an RFA.

Gaborik is obviously the better player, but you don't make trades in a vacuum. Would I rather have Gaborik for the next 100 games or Hornqvist for the next 400 or 500 at 2/3 million dollars cheaper, PLUS our first round pick?

After trading our last two first for essentially two more David Legwands I'd rather just keep it unless we can nab a long term solution. Gaborik is in his early 30's isn't signed long term and has injury histories I'd rather just keep Hornqvist, who's on a nice contract an our 1st considering our prospect pool.
