Wouldn't have minded having the Sens claim Eager, provided the Kassian deal didn't go down.

Me as well, why the hell would Eager be untouchable? Thats ridiculous and I am sure if someone said that it wasnt serious.

I think Eager never liked it in Edmonton or didnt get along with management/teammates. He does have some skill and can skate decently. He is totally capable of playing 10min a night, but with the Oilers he barely tried, never once stuck up for his teammates when we needed a response...

Maybe another team can convince him to work for his money

I thought Eager had been done since that prospect rung his bell in scrimmage game last preseason. Haartuuken (sp) oiler fans?

Quoting this too because I want to see who said he was untouchable... too good to ignore this baloney...

Johnson stopped producing points but was still forechecking hard and creating chances, which is all you should expect from a 4th line RW, anyhow. I expect Klinkhammer will fall into the same habit, but is a LW which is considerably less valuable to Phoenix at the moment. All of Torres (LHS, LW), Chipchura (LHS, LW) and Bissonnette (LHS, LW) are playing well right now, and all are 4th line players. Same goes for Klinkhammer (LHS, LW). So why waive Johnson now? Me, I'd give Klinkhammer a few more games to see if he can keep it up. If not, he's the one who should be demoted, and not Johnson.
I liked Johnson a lot. Doesn't make sense for the Preds right now but I hope my team picks him up.

Haha it's spelled Hartikainen

But the guy who hit him was Kirill Tulupov... he absolutely crushed him in the Joey Moss cup which is an inter-squad exhibition game with no contact.

Tulupov hammered him... such a moron.

That definitely didn't help Eager, made him a little timid for his first season in Edmonton. Seemed like he was feeling better and more confident this season but then Kassian beat the crap out of him and concussed him in a fight.

Maybe a bad idea, but I wouldn't mind the Pens picking up Olesz. But then you have the risk of him not being good and then having to put him in the AHL and pay him if no one claims him. I always thought the Panthers rushed him and that messed him up, same with Frolik.

Pittsburgh is not a market that can afford to pay someone $4 million to play in the AHL. Especially when people want us to sign a big name winger in the summer.

And Olesz sucks and is always injured anyway.

Nick Johnson is going to be a good waiver pick up whoever takes him.

Yeah, that's why I lead with "maybe a bad idea"...then I realized that he was signed past this season just now. Yikes.

I'd love to see him back with the Pens, he'd be a good 13th depth guy for the Pens while Geno is out or even to allow the Pens to move someone in the bottom soon.

What are the chances Chicago tells Olesz to stay home for the rest of the season now that he's been sent down, leaving them with the ability to buy him out after the season (something they wouldn't be able to do if he was still "injured")?

Eager isn't a good NHL player, and pretty soon he's not going to be one either. He'll get by just fine being paid a million dollars to ride busses next year.

Nobody ever did. At best they said we couldn't afford to give up what Eager brought to the Oilers by way of toughness for a player who at that point wasn't a very physical presence. Huge stretch and at one point even apologized for derailing the thread.

With Prust's injury Habs might claim Eager.

Yup, he was useful with the Wild last season.

Wow Ben Eager waived?

If I'm the Rangers, I take a flyer on him.

I still don't think the Habs should go for him, though, as he is not what we need.

I was hoping to get Matt Kassian on waivers, but he got traded away for a 6th! Can anyone tell me if there is a penalty to claiming a player off waivers that would make a team not take Kassian for free rather than give up a 6th for him?
Hf where you can throw out some bs hope it sticks.

Edmonton fans said Montreal wouldn't do it even with our 2nd rounder included...so I don't see why anyone would expect such nonsense to begin with.

Have a strong feeling Eager is going to get claimed by Mtl today.

Bergevin was there when Eager was with the Blackhawks, and current habs Ast. GM Dudley traded for him when he took over the Thrashers in the Byfuglien trade. Mtl also sent down Pateryn after last nights game to create a roster spot.

Edit: Habs actually just called up Tinordi, still possible can put a claim in for Eager, and put someone of the injuried guys on the IR, but its less likely now.

Edit 2: seems like it he wont be claimed by Mtl after all.
