Coach Andy Murray says all 30 NHL teams have done extensive scouting work on Western Michigan defenceman Danny Dekeyser.
per Andy Strickland
Quote:
NHL scouts tell me he compares well to Flyers defenseman Braydon Coburn.
Also, again per Strickland, Blues prospect Jori Lehtera has interest in coming to the NHL.

Quote:
Sources close to KHL standout Jori Lehtera tell me he has “strong interest” in playing in the NHL next season. The former 3rd round draft pick of the St. Louis Blues was among the leading scorers in the KHL this year.
Lehtera, a native of Finland, is unlikely to come over without some assurance he’ll make the NHL club. He makes good money in the KHL and has little interest in playing in the AHL. The Blues feel he’s in a good spot and wouldn’t pressure him to come over to play in the minors.[quote]

Looks like Carolina has signed, or will soon be signing, Danny Biega as he has been added to Charlotte's roster in the AHL. Biega, 21, was a 3rd round pick, 67th overall, of Carolina in 2010.

Okay, I think I deserve props for that one!

Per Tom Gulitti, Devils have signed Reid Boucher to his ELC. Boucher, 19, was New Jersey's 4th round pick, 99th overall, in 2011, he is currently playing for Sarnia of the OHL.

@TSNBobMcKenzie: Hearing OTT about to sign Portland Winterhawk overage UFA defenceman Troy Rutkowski to entry-level deal. Originally drafted by COL in 2010.

It honestly baffles me that Colorado didn't see enough in Rutkowski to at least sign him to his ELC and see what he brought to the AHL.

With all of the Calgary Flames attention on Portland players (Baertschi and Wotherspoon) in the last couple of years you'd think they'd be after him too.

One has to think that if he really was worth signing at the time another team would have at least used a seventh rounder on him in the draft.

Same for Silas.
They just let both walk and I was very surprised.

per Mikael Lalancette, Carolina has signed Keegan (son of Kevin) Lowe to his ELC. Lowe, 19, was a 3rd round pick, 73rd overall, of the Hurricanes in 2011.

Doesn't mean he'll automatically get a contract!

Anyway, I made a thread about prospects signing ATOs on the prospects board

Kellan Lain, a 6-foot-6 centre from Lake State, may be one of first college free agents to sign with NHL team, maybe within next 48 hours.

Here goes, an abridged rough translation:
Quote:
20-year-old Swede signed an NHL contract last night
Ludwig Blomstrand signed with Vancouver

The Almtuna forward signed a three year contract last night and will leave for North America immediately, to play AHL hockey for the spring.
- I think that's what's gonna happen. But I'm not sure. I'll fly to Vancouver tomorrow, that's the only thing for certain, says Blomstrand.

He started the season with Djurgĺrden before transferring to Almtuna where he has scored (13+6) 19 points in 30 games.
- I was expecting something like this, my agent phoned me earlier and told me to get prepared. After that I got the offer yesterday. The feeling's unbelievable.

- I don't know the financial terms of the contract. But money's not important right now. This was a boyhood dream and it feels great, says Blomstrand, a Vancouver fourth round pick from 2011 who is now under a rookie contract with the Canucks.
