Correct.

So far the only one to site sources was Lawless who said [paraphrase]: exec(utive)'s expect to see Burmistrov in a Jets' jersey for a long time.

Although, I wouldn't put much weight to Lawless' words no matter which side of the argument they were on.
As Chevy said: no one is untouchable unless their contract makes it so, it's a matter of price and whether it furthers the organization.
While I'm sure they would trade Burmistrov (or anyone) if the price is right, I don't think he's being shopped.

Whether it was a language issue or not with Burmi he should have worded his response differently, he should have said: (in regards to his benching) You should ask the coaching staff or you'll have to ask the coaching staff NOT I don't know why.

Again, my point was that Scheifele said pretty much the exact same thing.

I know what they should say.

So an issue of semantics makes this whole thing an issue?

Good idea! Lets trash a foreigner for language based semantics.

Point taken. Really don't think the Jets organization should even begin to entertain offers for Burmi (which they probably haven't) he has a ton of potential.

Lawless is the local hack; they aren't going to tell him anything about trades except to deny any possibility, even if they were in the plans. Conversely, Dreger has a much wider contact base and may perhaps have heard something elsewhere, from an agent or an executive with another team for example.

Who really knows?

What we do know is that Burmistrov is again in the doghouse and that is it so far. The reasoning behind that is probably, at least in part, attitude related. Hope he "gets it" soon and becomes a full time contributing team member.

Hey if it upgrades us I'll drive him to the airport (if I can get a free ticket to WPG first haha)!
I just think some people unnecessarily have vendettas (less common) or try to force things into their subjective (more common), similarly to how people did with Enstrom due to his size.

Well at this point maybe the best thing for him is not to talk to the media, you would hope his agent is giving him some advice, this whole thing is becoming overblown and now with Slater injured Burmi will be in for next game and this whole thing will be a non issue.

Does anyone have a link to the Burmi interview? I'd like to listen and see what the context of the quote was.

It isn't from an interview; he told various press members he didn't know why he was scratched and to ask the coach.

BTW for this of you who have Russian friends (I have many) you probably know how different their culture is and they just don't give a ..... about been politically correct cuz many times politically correct = hypocrite and they hate hypocrites like crazy

Burmi is always first on the ice to practice and last to leave the ice. Doesn't seem to me like very arrogant or very immature personality type.
I'm not even going to react about what he should've said according to HF boards fans. He is hockey player and 21 years old if you wanna here some bull.... go and listen to politicians they will give you the "right" answer

So a 21 year old who doesn't exactly happen to be playing very well can publicly call out the coach, is that where your going with this?

Wait so the press was asking him work related questions But they never recorded it and it's not an interview? That doesn't sound right to me...

Also possible that other teams called about Burmi, but were subsequently turned away.

Also, that same local hack is the source of all "attitude" talk.

I hope he gets it too. There won't be a ton of value to be had in a trade.

I am all for an upgrade, but Burmi is a decent 3rd liner and at his top end could be a legit top 6 forward with a solid 2-way game. I don't see anybody dropping that in Chevy's lap. If somebody does, lets get er done.

They just played the sound bite on 1290.

He said something like this: "I don't know. I don't know how to answer question like this. You should ask the coach. "

How'd he publicly call out the coach?

"Go ask the coach" is pretty common sports verbiage. Not even just to the NHL, but major league sports in general.

Especially given the fact Noel had a set up press conference and Burmi didn't.

Well, Hustler's 3 pm show actually just played the clip so I guess it does exist after all!

That was the first bit of Burmistrov audio that 1290 played today.

NO he didn't do that but he did hang the coach out to dry when he said he didn't know why he was benched. My comment about calling out the coach was in response to the post about the assertion that Russians are not politically correct with their public comments.
