Moffie is actually pretty good offensively, he had a down year. I'm not sure which way the Sharks are leaning but I'd really like to see them sign him.

The QMJHL released the list of finalists for their 'Golden Puck Awards'.

Abeltshauser is up for best d-man as well as the Humanitarian and Community Involvement Trophy.

Here's the entire release:

Very nice. How's he handling it? What kind of ice time/teammates is he getting? Thanks again for all the updates.

I was just wondering how Abeltshauser was doing, pretty good, I guess. Is he an over-ager this year? I can never keep track of these things.

Missed most of both games so this is merge of parts I saw + highlights
He plays with Růžička (Slavia's second most productive forward in regular season) and Sklenář. Don't know his TOI but seems he plays alot. In those two games he could score like 4 goals and few more assists. On the other hand Kladno looks tired (they had to play best of 5 to reach first round + they were team with most NHL players during lockout, without them, they probably wouldn't be in play offs)
Hope someone who watched both games can give better report.

3:43 Hertl's assist in game 1

at strat Hertl's assist, at 1:30 one of Hertl's goal chances (I recomend to turn sound off for this one)

He got better as the season went on. At the risk of people responding w/ snarky comments about "another bust in the Sharks org" he's one of those players that tends to take some time to adjust - it happened in the USHL as well.

He finished 6th on the team in SOG (averaging just under 3 shots per game) and was really quite unlucky for most of the season as his 3% SP shows. His defensive game is very good and he was one of Miami's top PKers and top in FO. I would think that his scoring will probably break out in his sophomore season.

I believe their playoffs start on Friday against Mich. State.

Brilliant! Good luck in the playoffs (assuming you're a Slavia fan).

3% shooting? Oh jeez, that's ridiculous.

I'm not, but my team managed to perform one of worst chokes I remember so I have time to follow other teams in playoffs

Dylan DeMelo was named the third best offensive d-man in the OHL in an Eastern Conf. coaches pole.

Correct me if I am wrong, but haven't you been one of the ones who has been critical of DW's drafting?

His early round drafting, generally yes.

DW has little to do with the determination of who to select (that's Tim Burke). All he does is try to figure out if other teams might be interested in same "must have" guy and move up/down to get.

Well, and he's the guy who keeps Tim Burke employed (not that I have a problem with that, just saying). The buck stops at Wilson in the end.

They really should start to prioritize skating a bit more. I know that the organization have been able to "fix" bad skating but considering the style in this era of hockey, they should try to get better/faster skaters out of the early rounds.

Matt Nieto? Tomas Hertl...his skating deficiencies are overblown. Hes only a kid..remember that people thought Couture was too slow. Couture's skating and speed are light years from where he was when drafted.
