13.1% chance. Not likely, but if they could just string together a few wins a row we'd be in business.

I seriously think the oilers changed lines are one of the biggest reasons this team has hope. There are three scoring lines. What was 75% of this teams problem? Scoring. We have been projected to be a team that will rely on scoring as our defence is not top notch and our goaltending can be questionable. If we can get a consistent effort from each player every night, good things will come. I was ready to throw in the towel after being shut out for two games. But after the line shake up, there is new hope.

Hall - Horc - Hemsky
MPS - Gags - Yak
Jones - Nuge - Ebs
Brown - Smyth - Petrell

We have a twf, a sniper, and a setup guy on each three lines IMO

TWF: Horcoff, MPS, Jones
Sniper: Hall, Yak, Eberle
Passer: Hemsky, Gags, Nuge

Sure each of the players might not fit the bill 100% ie. Gags being a passer as he is kinda an all around threat right now, but the basic premises is the lines are quite balanced. Also the minutes each line is playing and the competition they are playing against is ideal. (Nuge and Ebs snakebitten seeing 2nd/3rd liners vs first liners. If we are rolling these top three lines as well, we are not overloading them with work, and in this condensed season, one can only assume the negative affects.

Our fourth line while not ideal on NHL standards has also been upgraded with the addition of Brown. We all know that Smyth can sometimes jam in those wrap arounds and we have seen Petrell/Harti score occasionally.

Lets just hope we can stay healthy and come out to play each night.

Possible? Yes

I don't expect them to anymore which makes the season easier and less frustrating. These guys would have to go on a really nice streak and they have not showed us they are capable.

So. If Edmonton beats Detroit and takes Nashville to overtime, my hopes will be up a little bit.
Hopefully thecaptainshawnhorcoff can fire the team up to get vengeance for the pitiful display against Nashville last game.

Both are teams Edmonton is chasing. The issue is San Jose, the Blues twice, Columbus and Vancouver for the rest of the month. The Blues are beatable if every player plays tight defensively and Krueger doesn't go full "SIT ON THIS ONE GOAL LEAD" retard.

If Edmonton can keep scoring at will, they're not out of it yet.

Playoffs are makeable but what I would see as a successful season is to be in the race until the very end.

The bad news is the road trip wasn't great.

The good news is that while the Oilers were away everyone around them in the standings also decided to suck for a while, too. They also have more home games left than a lot of those teams.

14-4-4 would be so nice to see, or any type of winning streak

It's too bad the Oilers are just as bad at home as they are on the road.

2 wins in a row after losing 6 of 7 doesn't give me much hope. They need to win a heck of a lot more here quickly for me to get any hope.

I'd bet against it sadly.

Even if all goes right, the end of the season is really, really tough. We have Anaheim THREE times, chicago once, and minny a few times as well.
But at least we have the Ducks at home, in a back to back, in their 2rd and 3th game of a road trip. And they'll probably be resting their stars, if they keep their considerable lead in the division.

Chicago will definitely want to beat us, we embarrassed them 2 seasons in a row.

They need to go 3 for 4 on this home stand then win one of the games on the road. They do that and Tambo actually has a job to do on TDD.

It will really help if Anaheim and Chicago keep beating on other teams till the last week when we play them again

Of course. But the team will have to play better going forward. The status quo so far this season wont cut it.

I disagree. If you said before the roadtrip that we'd be one game short of .500, I would have taken it. I definitely wouldn't call it good, but its acceptable for such a long road trip against those teams

Kids need to show the same jump when it's 0-0 as when it's 4-0. NHL should keep a stat of goals scored relative to the game's score. This team will win and lose based on its ability to score at even strength.

I don't see the Oilers will not make the playoffs, and unfortunately if they keep tryin they wont be in the running for the first pick overall. They could have the same number of first overall picks as cups.

Its possible if they win at least 3/4 of this homestand.

But thats asking the Oilers for a lot and i dont think they will deliver. Wings, Preds, Sharks, Blues.

They'll have to do better than .500 on this home stand. They're playing teams they need to leap frog, so they can't really afford to lose. Lots of 4 point games coming up.

It's crazy how in the east their is 17 points separating the 3rd best team with the last team in the conference while in the west their are only 6 points separating Vancouver and Colorado for the respective positions. Just something to think about with this realignment coming.
