They should have done. They actually signed James not Luke, which is a shame as James really has had his time at EIHL and it hasnt worked out, his Brother should have got the call up really.

I'm really confused, THF title says James but some say it's Luke, Elite Prospects says Luke

I think there's been a mix up somewhere, either way I hope it's Luke, and not just because I'd like the Phantoms to be a man down on weekends

Such a shame that the only BBC "front page" coverage hockey seems to get is as follows:
  • Britain thrashed by Latvia
  • Britain thrashed by France
  • Britain thrashed by Kazakhstan
  • Giants new owner likes children

Now all they need is a link to that Guardian blog and we're all set.

Mr Knight says he wasn't convicted and that his appearance on the register is a clerical error that his lawyers are trying to get resolved. Could this be one massive "whoops" by everyone who jumped ship?

Can see this getting very messy.

At the moment only the last point is debatable.

We weren't thrashed by France

BBC actually changed the headline from "thrashed" to "beaten" after they realised how retarded they looked because they thought 6-2 is as much of a thrashing in hockey as it is in fooball

I suppose we'll have to take the positives where we can find them.

It seems that James Griffin is having a huge breakout season, what do the EIHL fans who have seen him this year think?

After Sheffield lost in Nottingham last night they are mathematically out of the title run in

Nottingham leading:
Nottingham @ Belfast
Nottingham @ Belfast
Cardiff @ Nottingham
Nottingham @ Cardiff

Belfast 6 points back:
Nottingham @ Belfast
Nottingham @ Belfast
Belfast @ Coventry
Belfast @ Sheffield

It looks like next weekend in Belfast will be deciding the title.

Also someone on a panthers forum has worked out the average attendance for the team this season so far.

it's 4,940. up over 200 on last year, and with the Cardiff game looking like a sellout (40 tickets left in the home blocks) and the challenge cup final also well on it's way they should break the 5k mark for average attendance this season.

After lots of speculation it is confirmed Paul Thompson will leave Coventry to coach Troja-Ljungby in Sweden (Rob Dowd's team)

http://www.iceman-epl.com/eihl.html

Quote:
Thompson, who will remain a part owner of the Blaze, will be taking up a coaching position at Troja-Ljungby in the Swedish second division at the start of the 2013/14 season.
“This isn’t a decision that’s been made at the drop of a hat,” said Thompson. “It’s something I’ve been discussing with my family and fellow directors for a while now. It was just a question of when we all felt the time was right. I’ve coached in the UK all of my life and I feel I now need to test myself and continue to develop as a coach by learning new things in a new country and hockey environment.
“Sweden is a hockey nation and I’m excited about being able to work in a country where they live and breathe hockey. I also feel my experience will benefit Troja – my experience of over 1200 professional games and international hockey is a big reason I’ve been given this opportunity. Troja is a well-run, established club and is a perfect fit for me right now.
Quote:
Thompson will spend the summer continuing in his role as Director of Hockey Operations for the club – a role which will see him take on the majority of the recruitment of the Blaze team for next season along with the appointment of a new coach for the club.
“I’m going to make sure the club continues to head in the right direction next season,” continued Thompson. “I want us to be the best we can be and I want to make sure we have the right off-ice structure in place to continue the progress we’ve made this last season.
“The fans have loved watching this year’s team and although there will inevitably be changes for next season, I want them to enjoy
watching next year’s team just as much. I want hockey to continue to be fun and entertaining in Coventry. I am and will continue to be passionate about this club.”

IIHF have announced their attendance rankings for 2013. Nottingham have done well moving up from 62 to 54 in the club rankings. Belfast dropped 2 places and are now ranked 88.

The EIHL as a whole is 9th in the top tier league ranking. Factoring in 2nd tier leagues it is 12th as the Allsvenskan, German Bundesliga and NLB would be higher.

Sorry, been off for a while and just saw this. Griff has impressed when I've seen him play north of the border this year. Confident on the puck, is an excellent skater and looks positionally sound. Can't over-emphasise the skating enough, one of the best I've seen British or otherwise this year. Tremendous foot speed.

Thanks, I only recently got a chance to see the highlights of recent games, his OT game winner was a beauty.

nice to see the Panthers jump up a bit, but a shame to see the Giants drop.

I'm curious do you have last years league average?
