Welker signed with the Broncos, so scratch him out from the list.

Quote:
Wes Welker lands a two-year, $12 million deal from the Broncos. Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker, Wes Welker. Have fun, Peyton.
Vikings seriously couldn't have outbid the Broncos at more than 6m a year? Embarrassing.

Going to the Broncos might be his figurative "dump" on Belichick's desk. Money might not have mattered too much.

They could have, they don't want to. Like it or not the Vikings aren't signing older high-end free agents.

And Amendola signs a 5 year deal in New England before the ink from Welker's deal dries.

So:

Quote:
$6M average for Welker. $6.2M average for Amendola. Jennings' reps will argue he's much more versatile, but WR market is ... interesting.
Wonder if the Vikings can grab Jennings around $8-9m?

Why would Jennings choose the Vikings over the Packers if they are offering identical amounts?

Not sure. Promise of being the #1 reciever with the most targets? The Packers have Nelson and Jones.

Give me a break, guys, I'm converting into a Vikings fan this season I've been a Colts fan for most of my life thus far and I realized last season that was 90% attributed to Peyton Manning, and when he moved on I was done. Can't get myself to enjoy watching Denver.

Not sure if you picked a good team to be a new fan of. In order to be a
Vikings fan you must love being abused to no end, you must love being played with emotionally. You must love having hope only to have it crushed in the most imaginative ways every year (case an point first we though we're gonna get high draft pick and were like YAY, then we COULD make the playoffs so everyone got giddy, THEN WE DID MAKE THE PLAYOFFS and people were jumping up and down.... THEN we had to use Joe Webb............. )

If you meet the following criteria welcome aboard, if you don't we'll be your temporary stop

Adam Schefter
And it's on: Packers free-agent WR Greg Jennings is visiting today with...the Minnesota Vikings.

Adam Schefter
Chiefs have been trying to trade QB Matt Cassel before having to release him. Release still more likely. Minnesota a potential landing spot.
Yes, please to both.

No to trading for Cassel why give up any assets to get a guy on more money when we can wait a few days and get him for free and cheaper.

Also yes to Jennings on a right deal. I think he'd like to play with Peterson.

To make sure you get him. We are likely only talking one of our three 7th round picks.

If he's released, he may not come here. He would have starting opportunities in places like Arizona.

Adam Caplan ‏@caplannfl
Teams also in mix for Amendola before he signed with the Pats: Titans, Broncos, Vikings, and Dolphins.

For those upset we didn't "go after" Amendola.

So you're more a fan of Ponder than you are Luck? I don't get it.

Cassell is really bad...even worse than Ponder...but it would provide some competition at least.

I was talking sign Cassel, not trade for him. Moot point. He'd be a good backup and provide competition for Ponder. Someone you could actually use in a game where Ponder throws for under 50 yards in a half...again.

It seems like he was looking for a move halfway through the season with his comments.

He clearly wants to confess his sins, be purified in the waters of lake Minnetonka and no longer be a member of the flith.

He's seen the light.

Less work for the money, with Arodgers he has to be on his A game all the time, with Ponder only like 5% of the time.

Gophers lead Illinois by 1 with 5:30 to go. Mbakwe has gone beast mode in the last 3-4 minutes while Gus Johnson is in full Gus mode.

FWIW word getting around to agents for other free-agent QBs is #Vikings plan to sign Matt Cassel if they can agree on $$. Big if, of course.

Via Pelissero.

i would LOL pretty hard if the Vikes get Matt C. he struggled in quite possibly the worst conference in football, how the hell is he going to transition to the always fierce NFC North?
