Miller strapped his team to his back and almost won them a gold medal. One the best goaltending performances I ever saw.

Yes indeed, considering not many livers have a silver medal.

I'm pretty sure there's a clear divide what with getting burned out after the Olympics, then getting that bad concussion. He hasn't really been the same since. As far as I can tell, Miller and Richards are the two current players with the biggest noticeable performance drop after a concussion.

I don't think Miller compares well to Brodeur either. Not many current goalies do. His whole career is excellent, as much as it pains me to admit.

Edit: Fleury is the best comparison for Bryz. Similar cap hits. Similarly, once star goalies. Now? Not at all.

He wasn't bad before the trap, either.

I think Broduer is overrated by many, but the Devils aren't gonna get rid of a guy after multiple Vezina trophies and Cup rings. That was my whole point.

I think the only goalie you can argue that's better than Brodeur is Roy. After that its a drop off to the next guy.

Hasek wasn't bad either. At his peak he was a monster.

In this era, sure. And I actually think Roy was alot better. Its hard to compare some of the older guys though, game is totally different.

You're right for some reason his name didn't even register when I was thinking about top goalies of all time.

Some of the threads for all-time goaltenders in the history section are pretty fascinating. I think they have an all-time top 40 list they're collectively working on.

His stats are fairly "normal" and there are trade rumblings for him.

That era was loaded with some good ones:
Roy
Brodeur
Hasek
Cujo
Belfour
Richter

I'm sure there's more. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Yeah, the period where Hasek dominated the collective faces off the NHL was relatively short compared to Roy. But during that period, damn he was good.

There's trade rumors because he won't want to stick around for a Buffalo rebuild. He's 32. The trade rumors have nothing to do with his play. He's still a very good goalie playing behind a team that allows the 3rd most shots in the league.

If we're starting during the Roy era you can probably squeeze Hextall's initial run in as well.

You could throw him on there too.

I know this....thats my point....hes still a good goalie and his stats suffer bc the Sabres suck.

We have a mediocre goalie who would "look" MUCH better if we had a "Lemaire" as coach. He was NEVER that good in PHX, but he's good enough.

It's a shame Tim Thomas didn't figure it out till his mid-30s. God I loved, and currently miss that guy.

I was a big fan of Mike Richter's back in day. Him and Leetch were the reason I could never hate the Rangers. It even got worse when they had Bure and Lindros.

I don't know what to think or Bryz at this point. I'm confident in saying he's not nearly as bad as he's been recently, but I'm not sure he's ever going to get it together completely.

I'm not making excuses for him, but the defense in front of him has been brutal. No one on this team is playing with any confidence right now, Bryz included.

I'm not ready to give up on him, but he better have a strong second half.
