People here are blowing the comments on l'Antichambre way out of proportion. It's ridiculous.

I really hope he can continue to play like this, he's turning out to be as good as we thought he would, if not better.

And he might even make a run for Norris this year, all the jimmies will be rustled.

We can agree or disagree on just how much PK improved since last year.

The issue is more about what PK got has a deal. Not only had he already proven to be a lot more worthy of the deal he signed, but it was also predictable that he would improve to become even more solid, after all, he had already done it in back to back years.

What PK is showing isn't surprising, that's why so many wanted him locked up long term right away.
It was especially not worth to have a dispute over.

Jeez, he played 31 mins last night!

Those morons have no problem crapping on PK.
They say that he's not liked by his teammates to the point where some might not have been too welcoming of his return. They even said that it might be better for him to stay at home. They compared him to Michael freaking Del Zotto, you realize that?

They're idiots.

When is the last time a Habs player was a Norris finalist or Norris winner?

Has it happened in my lifetime? I'm born in November 1983.

I'm not a fair weather friend. I thought Subban, drafted 45th, was drafted at least 40 places too low from the very first time I saw him in Brossard.

Taking into consideration their contracts, PK without hesitation.

Not a cop-out, when asked such question I'll look at everything.
If the question was who's better, then Doughty is still ahead IMO. However, I have to be honest, I believe I only watched 1-2 LA games this year.

Yes of course he improved but this was VERY predictable to some of us, and not so predictable to others (like you apparently). It`s called natural development and maturity from 22 to 23 years old.

Well I am happy that you are finally convinced.

Just a FYI: players usually improve from 22 to 23 and that leap is more pronounced when those players have high end potential... This is regardless of the coach.

Therrien gets credit, but really not that much.

Paraphrased from @ladyhabs timeline (a TSN690 producer):

Dreger on TSN690 apparently said that in Therrien's first meeting with PK after the holdout, he viewed him as an elite defenseman, an immediate leader in the room, and potentially a team captain down the road.

Might explain some of the changes in PK's behaviour, like his not doing nearly as many interviews.

Sign PK to a Long Term Extension

He has been playing great. Definitely top 5 D in the League this season

I say MB should sign him to a 6 year at 5 million a year.

What you guys say?

Definitely. Come July, Bergevin should start talking to Meehan and get a long term contract done. PK was good with the Habs regarding his last contract and that's what the Habs wanted, now time to reward him

They can't sign him until the off-season. He'll ask for more than $5M a year and he'll likely want a max 8 year deal.

And he has played like a 5 million defenseman so far this year. PK deserves it especially after being good with the Habs regarding this past contract.

If we sign P.K. to an extension today, we're not getting him for a penny less than $7m. Let's face it.

I don't think they can sign him until the summer according to the CBA. And you're dreaming if you think 5m will do it. That ship has sailed. Now he's going to be looking at over 7m possibly even 8+ if he gets Norris consideration.

I think it's going to be around 6 per year but I agree, just answering the poster who seems to be worried that PK would cost us around 5 per

We probably should have avoided the bridge contract in his case (it was obvious he wasn't a flash in the pan), since it's going to cost us more next summer to extend him, but nevertheless I hope Bergevin locks him up for 5 years minimum.

7x$6.5 is likely. Something along the lines of what Karlsson got.
