If I can make a suggestion...

As this is a north-american hockey board, don't you think we should find a title that our english speaking friends have a chance to understand?

I'd keep it short and using words everybody understands.

I dunno, something like "Rendez-vous galant" or "Renaissance".

Anyway, you decide...

I haven't really been following the Phoenix/Quebec/Expansion threads since the NHL season got going... Can anyone give me a quick update?

My intuition tells me that it's quiet in Quebec City, potential investors are being "rumoured" in Phoenix, but nary a single name has been mentioned since the Jamison and JIG failure/debacle, and the NHL is still denying the expansion rumblings.

How'd I do?

AFAIK, It's pretty much what's happening right now.

Honestly, I don't see an announcement coming before the Yotes are done playing games this season.

What will be funny is if a Coyotes move is made official before the end of the playoffs and the Coyotes win the cup before moving to Quebec. The Avalanche won the cup their 1st season after moving from Quebec. >.<

Wondering if the Coyotes' schedule where they will play 14 of their last 22 games on the road was decided on purpose... In case of an early relo annoucement...

That and the GOALden promotion thing for the last 10 games or so. It seemed like they wanted to get as many fans to buy tickets as possible so that if an early announcment is done, the attendance numbers won't reach record low levels.

The organization charged to examine the dossier of the building construction to prevent corruption has finished their examination. Remember the Mayor was saying they were taking too much time and enterprised could not wait too much to receive the materials but now they have finished their job. So it's 100% a go.

Big news this morning as Pierre Karl Péladeau, main shareholder of the new Quebec arena, resign from his job at the head of Québecor.

I don't think he took a Burger King restaurant managing job.

Smells nothing but hockey. Thanks for the link.

Here's an English link for Peladeau stepping down as CEO

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe...rticle9759513/

Don't think this impacts Quebec's NHL chances anyway. Maybe, it actually enhances the chance.

Quote:
Mr. Péladeau will continue to oversee the media operations as chairman of Quebecor Media and television service TVA. He will also be named vice-chairman of the board at Quebecor Inc., with Francoise Bertrand remaining as chairman.

I've read somewhere a corporation cannot be principal owner of a team. It should be an individual. This explains the Canadiens are owned by the Molson family members and not Molson-Coors.

If you look at your own link, you'll see that the Maple Leafs and the Flyers are corporately own.

Not to mention, many of those individual owners are also the heads of corporations. There's nothing to stop PKP from staying on as CEO of Quebecor while privately owning an NHL team. But as you say, there's no rule in the NHL preventing a corporation from owning a team that I'm aware of. The NFL has a rule prohibiting it. Not sure about MLB.

Yeah but I mean, it make no sense IMHO for the Molsons to won the team in person. I mean, you save more income tax by reporting revenue for future dividends.

Anyway, something strange there. How come Jeremy Jacobs owns the Bruins personnaly?

Sure Major, your title could work I think and thanks ;-)!
