Im not so sure I get if you are saying he won't waive or not? If it is he won't waive because of the comments he made earlier when asked he gave a generic answer every player gives when asked about a trade. Homer approaches him about a trade, he will have to think long and hard about it. Who doesn't want an opportunity at the cup?

I suspect he'll waive, but I also suspect he'll limit the teams he can be moved to and thus limit the potential return. His cap hit is already going to limit the teams that will be interested to relatively small markets looking for the his high cap hit to real salary ratio. If we can get any first rounder, we take it and run. Same with any real prospect (D or otherwise).

Very very unlikely to make the play-offs- Flyers just had a major rebuild 2 years ago! Rebuilding the management and coaching staff (who screwed up the prior rebuild) might be a good first start!

watching the effort of the team is depressing. This team has no passion, or fire. They can't stand up, shoot the puck, pass the puck. Get a coach that will teach them its okay to lift the puck off the ice when shooting at the net, then let them shoot the puck. We are not the Russsians of the late 70's or 80's looking for the perfect shot. Get in the offensive zone and fire the puck at the net, crash the net looking for rebounds. In our zone, play man to man, having all five players in the crease means no one to help get the puck out when we baby pass the puck to the blueline, my 10 month old niece passes harder then this team. Get rid of the deadwood, guys who don't compete for 60 minutes. This is going to take 3-5 years. I grew up watching the Flyers outwork, outhit, and out hustle other teams, that was the Philadelphia Flu. Teams knew they would pay the price when playing the Flyers then.

I agree to some extent, but just hunch I have that if Briere is made available, he will get us a good return. Like you said though, I hope he doesn't hamper us with a small list of teams he will accept to. There is a few really really good teams out there that could use his scoring punch for the playoffs.

I'm not sure which I'm more dumbfounded by the fact that someone started this thread last night or that 4 people actually think we have chance at the playoffs.

Oh c'mon..it's all for fun.

But yeah it's pretty self-evident this team is going nowhere fast

Bad GM'ing + Bad coaching + Bad play + Bad luck = BAD TEAM

I was just kidding. I'm not so much about the 5 people thinking we have a chance though.

There are always outliers in statistics and sometimes the black swans surface but yeah in this case the 6% are clearly trolling...

Briere was willing to go to Germany for a while, but that was ultimately just 2 months or less. He probably didn't think the lockout would go the whole year, and being traded means playing for a team elsewhere for two seasons which means being away for at least 13 months total (end of Oct. to the beginning of May x 2). He could go to another team in the Atlantic so he wouldn't be that far away, but with his schedule he still wouldn't get to see them much. I imagine Briere wouldn't want to go to NYI and I don't see NYR or NJ wanting him. I think Pittsburgh would consider taking him though. He could also go to Washington. Then again I have no idea what I'm talking about, and he could waive to go to Anaheim or just stay put.

I'm still rooting for them to make it, but I don't realisticly think that they will make them at this point. I think this team is good enough to make them, but some things happened and we are in a very bad position right now. Hopefully 2014 will be better.

Yep, just continue to build this club. Add to the young core this team has. I see a bright future for this club. Yes it sucks right now. But I am not one of these doom and gloom types. Take your licks now cause in a year or so this will be a club to be reckoned with.

Maybe with Boston losing Kelly for a month, they will come calling to Philly. And hopefully, Briere goes.

I'll always root for my team to win. We aren't the Penguins or the Oilers. I don't want to tank.

Get in and anything can happen. I'm not giving up hope until they are mathematically eliminated. That said, if they can move vets for good pieces I still do it BUT KEEP THE CORE IN TACT.
