Lavoie is pretty trustworthy IMO.

I hope he is wrong on this one. If Eager can no longer fight, he brings no value to our team.

A little surprised the Habs are waiving Nokelainen... they must be satisfied that Gabriel Dumont is ready to step in whenever such services are needed. (And are probably correct - he looks like he is.) I would have thought they'd give Nokelainen a conditioning assignment first, anyway.

Too many forward on the team, with Bourque and Prust coming back soon they will have 13 forward if they send Dumont in Hamilton.

Hence the suggestion of a conditioning assignment - unless he was ineligible for that somehow? But again, no biggie, I don't see anything Nokelainen does that Dumont can't do. And assuming he isn't claimed, Hamilton needs bodies.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Nokelainen claimed, can be a good third-liner from what I last saw of him.

Keep in mind that none of us has seen Nokelainen in practice, while the Habs brass has. Maybe they've seen something that's changed in his game due to his rehab that they didn't like, or that they feel will be detrimental to him as an NHLer going forward. He's missed almost a year of hockey at this point.

IF Nolelainen is healthy, he's a guy that shouldn't get past Vancouver should he fall that far. Desperate need of a 3/4th line C.

I would not mind Oilers picking him up. He is something we could use right now.

If Nokelainen is your 8th or 9th best forward, you are in trouble.

He got scratched about 20 times on a last place team last year.

Once he got into a bit more of a groove and got some regular use later on in the season though, he looked ok. Definitely just as a 4th line energy/checker, though. He was decent on faceoffs and even got into some scrums and mini-fights. But I don't see how a team takes him now when he hasn't played in so long. I can't see him ever being a 3rd liner. 4th max, spare forward, maybe.

No, he is just a "ok" fourth liner.

3rd liner ? Not that much. But a sound 4th liner, yes.

Hit by Phanuef before he was drafted probably messed up something.

Rushed is a possibility, along with injuries ruining his development and confidence.

I wonder if the Canucks might pick him up. Is he any good at faceoffs/pk?

It's more a question of the player accepting that assignment.

Good face-off guy, decent PK guy. That was before his injury. He's been out for a while and may be a step slow.

Very serviceable 4th liner. Why no cond. stint? :/

I liked him... I hope for him he gets claimed and plays in the NHL.

Nokelainen didn't play a single game this season...
Last year? Average 4th C at best. Righty C that can win faceoffs, but he shouldn't be anything more than the 12th best forward on a team, who wins a spot due to his ability to win faceoffs.
Gabriel Dumont and Ryan White passed him on the C depth chart.
