Darian Dziurzynski must have impressed management this season.

The 2011 5th rounder had been playing on an AHL contract, and just signed his ELC according to the teams twitter.

Any Portland fans want to give us the rundown on Dziurzynski? Not exactly flashy numbers.

Disappointing end as the Pirates blow a 3-1 lead as Stefan Legein sinks the Pirate Ship

it's not familiar, but would you have said that if Bolduc had scored?

I've been noticing Martinook's name in the scoresheet more often lately. It seems like he went from 2 points to 11 quickly. I know he's been hurt this season, but has he been playing noticeably better?

Goal and an assist for Martinook. Maybe not a bust?

We're not honestly at the point where we're calling players busts 1/2 a season after they were drafted are we?

But speaking of, 10 pts in his last 10 games. Be nice to see that keep going.

Stone can play at the pro level. I thought he was a bottom pairing guy but he's looking like Top 4 at this point. Bomb of a shot and great size.

Chris Brown is our Wayne Simmonds. He's developing faster than expected. Very impressive player. Again, I thought he was a third liner but it's looking like he may have 20 goal upside.

I'd like to gush about Rundblad a little. He had a highlight reel goal (was goal of the year until tonight as Conner now holds that honor) last game and he picked the corner again tonight. He's only a -2 this year; which is a huge improvement from last season. I like his upside. He's a top 10 D prospect in the league. Maybe top 5. Amazing how now that he's not a prospect with a Canadian team that he's now being talked about like he's a complete bust.

Gormely took a step forward tonight as well. Starting to get adjusted to the speed of the AHL game.

I like Martinook. His stats aren't there yet but this kid has something to his game that I'm drawn to.

Summers has had some nice plays as well. He's the forgotten man but I think he's capable of a bottom pairing role on the main squad. He would be higher on the depth chart if it weren't for our incredible depth. A guy with his skating as our 5th/6th guy is fairly impressive.

Bolduc obviously very impressive. He's better than I expected.

Shinnimin and Miele both creating time and space. Shinnimin has shown huge improvement from earlier this year.

How was my scouting report in hindsight?

Dziurynzski suspended 1 game for his actions following the WB/S gm Saturday (4-3 OTL); team then fell to Worcester 5-3 on Sunday. Currently 5th seed in East, as Adirondack/Lehigh Valley comes to town tomorrow night before the rematch w/ WB/S.

Also Chris Summers was recalled to Phoenix.

6-3 Win over Phantoms:

Szwarz, (9)-SH, Brown (23)-PP-Rundblad, (8)-PP-Bolduc, (22)-Miele, (12)-Hextall, (7);

Only downside Rundblad went off early 3rd Did not return; Valabik assessed 10 min misconduct and Shinnimin assessed a 5 min boarding major/gm misconduct, of which Adirondack converted twice.

rematch Saturday vs. WB/S (TELEVISED Statewide again by TWC), I won't be here to post any updates as I am seeing them live.

A little bit of both I'd say, mainly Lee doing well.

Lee: 6-3-0, 2.76 GAA and a .915 SV%

Vis: 11-9-1 2.85 GAA and a .909 SV%

Interestingly enough Visentin has almost EXACTLY the same stat line as Johnson, 2.85 vs 2.86 goals against and both have a .909 save percentage.

I also wouldn't be surprised if Vis was given a few starts in Gwinnett as a bit of a conditioning assignment while management gets a longer look at Lee.

Nick Johnson also assigned after clearing waivers.

Article on Dziurzynski that was posted on the AHL's site, talking about how his game has improved and how he impressed management enough to earn his contract.

"Of AHL teams that have used three goalies on a fairly regular basis, only one other team can claim all three exhibiting save percentages of .906 or greater (Springfield)."

Am I reading Portland's stat line wrong? We have three goalies that have played at least 10 games/500 minutes with all three at least above .906, right? Springfield's third goalie, Paul Dainton, only has 9 games and 515 minutes.

I think Campbell and Visentin are good comparables, so I'm interested to see whose scouts had it right.

Rundblad has quietly put up serious numbers. If you pro-rate out to a full 76 game season, he ends up with 58 points. That would be three shy of leading all AHL D, last year. He may end up with more value than initially thought.

Visentin now healthy after being assigned to Gwinnett; played 1 gm there, and is now back in the mix w/ CJ/Lee; Lee back to Gwinnett w/ Domingue
