They'll probably make the playoffs as a 6- or 7-seed and be summarily dismissed by Grand Rapids or the Marlies. The Amerks' season ends on Sunday, April 21, and knowing the Sabres, they'll probably have already called up McNabb, as well as another player or two, to fill the roster spots of the traded impending UFAs. The Sabres will then keep those players up through Buffalo's final game on Friday, April 26, just long enough to allow the Amerks to play themselves into an 0-2 series hole before they send back the cavalry--Porter, Flynn, McNabb, Foligno, and possibly even Hodgson and Grigorenko--but it'll be too late by then.

A quick injury update from #Amerk-land: LW Kevin Sundher is skating, should play on weekend. RW Evan Rankin not skating, maybe 2 more weeks?

Tonights home game vs Binghamton is going to be on TWCSC Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse - LIVE - 7:00 pm ET. Fridays home game vs Albany will be on TWCSC Buffalo, Rochester and Albany - LIVE - 7:00 pm ET. Fridays home game vs Albany will not be on TWCSC Syracuse - LIVE - because that channel will have the Adirondack at Binghamton game on at 7:00 pm ET instead.

Amerks extend point streak to six with 3-1 win over B-Sens:
Quote:
Luke Adam finished with a team-high two points (1+1), including the game-winning goal, while Matt Ellis and Maxime Legault rounded out the scoring for the Amerks, who have now won five of their last six games and moved into fifth place in the American Hockey League’s Western Conference. Goaltender David Leggio stopped 18 of 19 shots to extend his personal win streak to five games while picking up his AHL-leading 31st win of the season.

Girgensons is deserving of a call-up if need be. The last two home games he has been one of the best players on the ice. Physically he leaves no doubt and his puck control has been outstanding.

Luke has been better but still taking parts of shifts off mentally.

They've become a more physical, but still disciplined team under Cassidy. To me they have the making of what could be a tough team to play against come playoff time. Add some offense from a Hodgson or Foligno and this team could do some damage.

This team would become dead in the water if Foligno and Hodgson are sent down. Teams can not insert individuals into a line up at the end of a season and expect an immediate impact and smooth transaction.

Foligno on the other hand, IMO should be in Rochester now. This will help. If he can pick up his game.

Procedural rules update: To be eligible for Calder Cup playoffs, any player on an NHL roster must be on an AHL roster by 3 p.m. on April 3.

I don't think I'm in the minority when I say that Hodgson and Foligno would be an improvement to Rochester's roster.

And I don't know what kind of message you're trying to send by sending Foligno to Rochester after a 2 goal night.

You're crazy. They would be an enormous help. Especially with the Amerks lack of skill right now.

I beg to differ and feel Flynn and Porter would be more beneficial. Hodgson, how did he play during his brief stint as fo Foligno, I feel he can help and should be here now. At the present time he is no way NHL ready.

You could conceivably get all of them.

Flynn, Foligno, and Hodgson can be easily assigned to Rochester in a paper transaction on deadline day to make them eligible, while Porter can be waived (and will likely clear due to his one-way deal next year and the fact that he's not worth much to anyone else).
One of Flynn or Foligno will be re-assigned when Leino returns anyways.
Even if they ditch all three of Hecht, Leopold, and Regehr, they could manage to re-assign these players and stay within NHL roster regulations by obtaining another skater (could be as simple as recalling McCormick).

My guess is Regier will do whatever the rest of the league does regarding Hodgson and Foligno. If everyone is sending down their players who played during the lockout, he'll probably follow suit.

Don't see any negatives. They were part of the team for half a season. And Hodgson needs to work on his defensive game anyway.

#Sabres sent rookie C Mikhail Grigorenko back to QMJHL. As far as joining the #Amerks, nothing has changed: Only when Remparts season ends.

Kevin Oklobzija ‏@kevinoDandC - #Amerks Hall of Famer Gates Orlando is at the game tonight because he's back on the job as a scout for the @NHLDevils (more)

Kevin Oklobzija ‏@kevinoDandC - (cont.) Comeback player of the year. #Amerks HOFer Gates Orlando is back scouting live games just 39 days after he had a heart transplant.

Go Gates Go!

David Leggio (Amerks) and Keith Kinkaid (Devils) are the starting goalies tonight. Kinkaid was the backup goalie for the New Jersey Devils game in Buffalo on Saturday, March 2 - replacing Marty Broduer who was on IR at the time. Johan Hedberg started that game in net for New Jersey who went on to lose to Buffalo in a shootout.

Kevin Oklobzija ‏@kevinoDandC - #Amerks lines are unchanged: Girgensons-Varone-Mancari, Ellis-Schofield-McCormick, Tarnasky-Adam-Legault and Roy-Szydlowski-Parker.

Kevin Oklobzija ‏@kevinoDandC - A Matt Ellis steal from Jay Leach behind the Albany net leads to a hook by Leach and #Amerks go to the game's first power play 4:46 in.

Kevin Oklobzija ‏@kevinoDandC - Mark Mancari opts to pinch instead of retreating and Mike Sislo scores a short-handed goal off a 2-on-1 fast break. 5:43. #Amerks trail 1-0.

Kevin Oklobzija ‏@kevinoDandC - #Amerks D Mark Pysyk hobbled after taking a Jay Leach point shot off the ankle with 3:30 to go in 1st.

Kevin Oklobzija ‏@kevinoDandC - End of 1st period, Albany leads #Amerks 1-0. Shots 10-8 Amerks.

Kevin Oklobzija ‏@kevinoDandC - Rather than maybe lose him on waivers, the #Sabres traded D-man T.J. Brennan to the Fla. Panthers for a 5th round draft pick in June.

Kevin Oklobzija ‏@kevinoDandC - #Sabres GM Darcy Regier on trading T.J. Brennan to Fla. Panthers for 5th-round draft pick: "We weren't able to get him in our lineup (more)

Kevin Oklobzija ‏@kevinoDandC - (cont.) #Sabres Darcy Regier on T.J. Brennan trade:"Obviously if somebody's prepared to pay a draft pick, he wasn't going to clear waivers."

Kevin Oklobzija ‏@kevinoDandC - A poor Luke Adam pass into the skates of Nick Tarnasky ends up in a goal for Mike Hoeffel at 12:54 of 2nd period. #Amerks trail 2-0.

Kevin Oklobzija ‏@kevinoDandC - The best mishandles often end up as goals. Matt Ellis tips in a Mark Mancari wrister from the point after Mark Pysyk bobble at other point. The #Amerks PPG at 18:49 cuts the Albany lead to 2-1.

Kevin Oklobzija ‏@kevinoDandC - End of 2 periods - Albany leads #Amerks 2-1. Shots 11-11 in the 2nd period. LS: Game - 21-19 Amerks.

Kevin Oklobzija ‏@kevinoDandC - Phil DeSimone plays super sniper and goes top shelf with a one-timer from the left hash mark. #Amerks trail 3-1, just 7:04 to go.

Kevin Oklobzija ‏@kevinoDandC - #Amerks come right back. Phil Varone from RW corner to Mark Mancari at the top of the slot. His one-timed slap shot rockets home.

Kevin Oklobzija ‏@kevinoDandC - Albany lead cut to 3-2 by #Amerks wtih 6:30 to play.

Kevin Oklobzija ‏@kevinoDandC - Attendance for #Amerks on "Irish Night" is 6,784.

Kevin Oklobzija ‏@kevinoDandC - Despite endless pressure for final 3:30, #Amerks can't score equalizer and lose 3-2 to Albany.

LS: Shots on Goal - 3rd Period - Amerks 12-7 - Game - Amerks 33-26. Next Game - Saturday at Toronto - 5:05 pm ET.

Amerks edged by Devils, 3-2:
Quote:
Matt Ellis scored for the fourth straight game and Mark Mancari extended his point streak to eight games, but the Rochester Americans could not overcome a pair of two-goal deficits as the Amerks dropped a 3-2 decision to the Albany Devils Friday night at The Blue Cross Arena. The loss snaps Rochester’s six-game point streak and hands the Amerks their first regulation defeat of the month after opening up March with a 5-0-1-0 record through the first six games.

Amerks goaltender David Leggio, who entered the game on a five-game personal win streak, made 23 saves in the losing effort in his 50th start of the season.

Mancari is the worst forward in the league, I don't care how many points he gets. Easily the most frustrating player I have ever watched. You would think he would learn to play some defense after getting passed over, nope same story.

So let's just keep playing the same D over and over while benching Schiestel and Mac. This team is pathetic, end of story.
