The more I think about it, its not the worst move we could make. With his age and recent past, he's not going to command a huge salary, and would probably be cheaper than Giguere or any of the other names mentioned as possibilites, and we wouldn't have to give anything up to get him. We can re-sign Ozzie cheaply, and they could really split time in the regular season to ensure Dom is healthy to start the playoffs, and if he did get hurt, you at least have a viable back up in Ozzie.
I know he didn't leave on the best of terms, but if Stevie and some of the other veterans sign off on it, I don't see that being a huge problem.
Obvisouly its risky, but as a 1-2 stop gap before Howard is ready is it really any worse than Giguere or Nabokov or Huet?

Better make sure we have a starter as the backup as well if you want Hasek.
The man has played played basically 50 games in the past 4 years, he CANNOT be counted on to last an entire season and unless we're going to allow him to only play every 3 or 4 games so he doesn't get injured for the rest of the season it isn't an option.
If Holland re-signed Hasek, it would be the worst move he's ever made.
Hasek has already burned a few bridges in town, not to mention he would probably suffer another injury and be forced to miss the playoffs. That guy's ego is as bad as Roy's, but I would trust a rusty Roy more than I would Hasek at this point.
hasek comming back is like cujo comming back, odds arent looking good
I'd accept Cujo back in Detroit...he wasn't the reason the Wings lost those two seasons. Hasek on the other hand, is too much of a risk because of his health. Then again, the Wings picked him up a few years ago knowing his injury problems from before and he won them a cup. I have no idea who is the best option for them at this point.
Unless he can some how get groin replacement surgery i'll say no thanks. His groins are like dried up rubber band, ready to snap at a moments notice. Besides we dont need another circus in town, we have the Lions.
