TB refused Luongo on philosophical grounds. Thier team model does not have room for a thirty four year old goalie with a ten year contract.
Yet they have room for another monstrosity contract that hasn't lived up to his salary at all. If they buy out Lecavalier, and I can't see why on earth they wouldn't, then they should have the cap room to take on Luongo and a few other pieces.

In all fairness, Tampa is giving up nearly identical shots as Nashville last year.
And Rinne is puttin up identical save % behind what (minus Weber) is a pretty weak defense.
(Mind you Rinne is the #1/2 goalie in the world).
Like I said, I'm not pretending that Lindback is doing himself any favors, but Schneider or Bernier or any other goalie Tampa has any chance of acquiring is not going to single handedly change things. No goaltender short of Lundqvist or Rinne would have a chance behind that group.
Ohlunds knees are ruined and likely is done playing.
Purcell has as many assists as Henrik.
Thompson is also a heavy lifting 3C we lack
Thompson is a dime a dozen player. Not to mention he plays on one of the worst defensive teams in the league - who's to say he's a good fit here? I doubt he plays ahead of Lapierre to be honest. You don't package him to Vancouver when Schneider is heading the other way. More value please you're reaching for weak players.
Purcell may have as many assists as henrik but let's not pretend he has the playmaking skills as Henrik.
no ur under valuing bernier and martinez alot. I would however be sorta interested in garon for richardson Should bernier gets traded somewhere. Purcell was giving opportunity here and couldnt find chemistry on a scoring line I doubt the trade for him back,
