Tuesday marked the return of Brent Burns, who missed seven games with a leg injury after sitting out the first 10 games of the season following offseason sports hernia surgery. Burns, usually a defenseman, was used as a wing, scored a goal, and wound up playing some on the top line alongside Thornton and Patrick Marleau.
ask their coach, but it seemingly worked, and supposedly will play wing again tonight ?

On Brent Burns as a forward:
“I’ve seen him a lot in Minnesota. Jacques used to play him on wing there a lot, so I’m very familiar with him. Coached in Calgary against him as a winger. It’s a good problem to have Burns on right wing with Joe Thornton. I told Drew in the meeting today – I said ‘Heck, friggin’, Drew, if you don’t score again, I’ll put you on right wing with Kopitar.’”
Last OFFICIAL word I recall (was like 2 weeks ago or so ?) ...
Kings general manager Dean Lombardi said defenseman Willie Mitchell underwent platelet rich plasma therapy Tuesday for his surgically-repaired right knee, but there is no timetable for his return to the lineup. Mitchell has had a number of setbacks after undergoing surgery to repair torn meniscus in December.
Meanwhile, Lombardi also said defensemen Matt Greene (back surgery) and Alec Martinez (upper body injury) were on schedule to return from their injuries. Greene is actually ahead of schedule and might be back before the end of the regular season, with Martinez expected to be fit to play “shortly,” according to Lombardi.
