I voted Faulk, just because those two Carolina fans seem to be so upset.

Faulk is better than Voynov. But I would love to have both.

I think they are both great...I've seen Faulk quite often and he's a very good player and has a hell of a shot.

Faulk for me.

I would take Voynov on the Rangers because I think he's better on the PP.

Can't go wrong either way though.

And I hardly doubt being a 2nd liner on a cup team is considered a symbolic reference to a players talent. Is Carter/Richards 3rd line centers? Like I said before, I'll refrain from commenting on Faulk as I don't watch him play. But Voynov is hardly "treading water". He is a big reason as to why LA is doing as well as they are.
I was referring to his relative Corsi, which is close to even despite his favorable matchups.

Maybe a little Minnesota bias here, but I love Faulk's game. was a good player at South St. Paul High School and at UMD.

I'm not saying Voynov is better because he has more points but this clearly shows that he can produce more offense. In addition, Voynov was instrumental last season and some even called him the best overall D-man on a Stanlep Cup winning L.A Kings.

This season he's taken exactly where he left off. He's very smart positionally and he's capable of providing above average offense. This translates into a 23 year old two-way D-man.

I just dont understand how people are saying Faulk is better without having a doubt in their mind. It's laughable, actually.

Faulk is good but Voynov is better right now and Voynov can easily be the better D-man long term as well.

You're making him overrated considering this is his 2nd season. Let's wait till he cracks 30+ points, and see how he does in the playoffs and go from there.

Voynov has already done that.

Justin Faulk is the new Kimmo Timonen... Seriously, I see some similarities between the two. Faulk will be a solid two way #1/#2 dman for years to come.

So you watched him for 30 seconds, while he was on the bench, getting a drink of water? I'm not going to argue about Faulk vs. Voynov, because I haven't watched any 'canes games this year, but to say Voynov is a non-factor is just plain wrong.

Considering they are the Stanley Cup champs with Voynov It would be hard for them to be a better team with Faulk. Is Faulk really going to make them a better team?

Honestly these two are really close right now, so I'll go Faulk for the poll question since he's 3 years younger.

I do not remember that, and would strongly disagree. Not voting because I know too little about Faulk, but damn, I'm more than happy with Voynov and how he's progressed since being drafted.

Faulk is 20. His offense will progress. Right now, he is a better overall defenseman than Voynov. Voynov isn't bad, but he isn't better than Faulk. The only one who gets more D-zone faceoffs by average on the Hurricanes blueline is Gleason. Voynov gets more offensive zone faceoffs and matches up against weaker competition by comparison.

Why is it laughable for me to expect a 20 year old who is already better than a 23 year old to end up having the better career of the two?

You haven't said or even validated why he is better than Voynov, other than he gets more defensive zone face-offs (is that what these slap contests are really coming down to?)

Inversely though, people have given facts, stats, and opinions as to why Voynov is having the better career thus far. That is why it may be laughable to him.

Setting the NHL record for most consecutive playoff road wins.

Having the second best playoff performance in the history of the NHL is pretty damn close to "nearly unstoppable" to me.

Gosh, some people are so hard to please

The fact that Faulk plays more minutes and against better competition isn't proof enough? Corsi numbers are even, even though Faulk plays against better players and in tougher defensive situations. Do you really need more proof than that?

People have brough up the difference in points. There is a reason for that. Carolina doesn't play Faulk as much on the PP and the offensive zone as LA does with Voynov. Faulk kills PP's. Voynov gets more PP time. Big difference.

How is this an argument? I've given facts, stats and my own opinion, as well.

I'm sorry that I value the younger, better overall player over the one who has more points.
