4th in league scoring first year as a defencemen. Second in league scoring last season (missed 16 games). 3rd in ppg this season from people with over 15 games.

Not sure what's trying to be argued here... Karlsson and Letang are by far the top two offensive defenders in the league...

I agree. There's more than a few I'd take over Byfuglien.

Yes Letang has been better in this half season. Last season byfuglien had better numbers.

Also keep in mind Pittsburgh as scored 43 more goals in one more game than Winnipeg. His team greatly helps him numbers. By the eye test and numbers it's close. Either way, Byfuglien is minimum top 3 offensive D.

41/52 = .824
53/66 = .803

To add on to that, roughly half (13) of Letang's points this season are from second assists. Not to take away from his skill set, but he an obvious benefactor of the chemistry between Crosby and Kunitz.

Byfuglien is a major catalyst of the Jets offence, I cannot see the Jets shopping him. I can see teams being interested, but that's it.

Subban and Pietrangelo could make a case. OEL is a newer guy on the scene but he's having a pretty beastly year. Big Buff is a good player and all, but I don't know about "2nd best offensive defenseman in the league". All the best defensemen in the league are offensively capable anyway, so it's sort of an empty title.

With our run lately and buff being on fire it would take massive overpayment to pry him from us. You have to realize that trading him will probably cost us the playoffs unless we get a lot of immediate help coming back.

Because Howard and Quick don't cut it anymore.

I'm guessing Buff maybe becomes available in 1-2 years. With Bogo, Enstrom and eventually Trouba, the Jets would have 4-25 minute defenseman. At this point you will probably see one of buff or Enstrom moved.

Also, Buff was historically horrible defensively (i.e. turning over the puck, pinching), but this season he seems to be a lot better. A lot of people should maybe factor that in. (I'm not saying he's the second best defenseman in the league)

We've already defused this argument. Karlsson and Letang are both better. Try again.

Karlsson is the clear #1 so there's no point in discussing that.

Letang gets the benefit of playing with the top 2 players in the league. You don't think that that helps his numbers?

Man the amount of flak that Kadri got for coming in "over weight" to camp imagine what Buff would get? Would love to see what Carlyle would have to say.

Well if thats what Eklund and his academy award winning sources say, than its gotta be true right?

Can someone tell me the last time Eklund was right on anything?

I thought he was the best player when the Hawks won the cup....this Man is a force....I hope the Habs give him a closer look, but worried that he can't keep the pace with this speedy team.

His agility is very less than ideal, but being able to keep up with quicker forwards will never be a problem for him in his prime. He's got great wheels.

I clearly understand what happened. You obviously don't though. It was basically claimed that "I watch Byfuglien every game so I'm a better judge than you." That's just great when it comes to evaluating Byfuglien by himself, but when you're comparing him to another player? If you're claiming I "Dont watch Byfuglien every game so I don't know", I'm safely assuming you don't watch Letang every game and don't know, making you just as incapable of COMPARING as me.

I wasnt the one who set up the "I know more than you on such and such so you can't compare," he was. I simply took his argument and turned it on its side because its reasonable to assume that he has failed to do the same for Letang. So by his logic, neither is he.

It's not rocket science.
