I've always been in love with this story. That they knew they were going to be in trouble so they just kept playing, until the last possible moment. There's something awfully romantic in there.

After the concert yesterday a guy comes to me and says "hey I saw you on TV playing hockey I was really impressed". Oh thank you, you play also, I asked. "Eh, yes, I have a National Championship with HV71". OK haha. Supercool guy, asked him a lot. He was teaching me how to take a hit so that it hurts more to hit me than being hit. I didn't want to tell him we don't hit in men's league, he seemed to have a real twisted view on my level of play. There was also another retired player who I watched as a kid on the national team. He was pretty drunk though, talked to him at the bar. That guy went with some friends to party on and pick up girls, he wanted me to join but I didn't go for that. But he told me they never really listened to coaches during games. The leaders-players on a team mean more than the coach come games.

The HV71 guy wanted to set me up to practice with the veteran team, which is former HV71 players that get together and scrimmage. Wtf he thinks I can keep up with that, ridiculous. He said they just kid around and I shouldn't worry but no way haha.

It's strange, through my recitals I've met plenty of pro hockey players lately.

Do it. Even if you can't keep up you'll love it. My buddy went and played at an optional practice with the AHL Ducks in Cincinnati when they were here after he was invited and he said the crazy russian guys were passing the puck boards to boards, tape to tape on the rush... between their legs! He ate it up even though he couldn't keep up the pace or skill. Was just some fun stuff and made for great stories. Sean Avery played there too - I hope my buddy drilled him with a shot.

So, looking into buying a new laptop. One I got for Tony a few years ago is kinda on it's way out and it's just not working anymore.

Going with a Dell because I can get discounts from my company. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Buy the cheapest one you can and put 6+ GB of memory in it.

If anyone can take this survey I'd appreciate it. It'll take you less than 3 minutes if you can click and answer simple questions (no writing). Thank you HF friends.

Kind of... It's similar to a tablet in that you have to download apps for it.

There's plenty of apps for music, editing/creating documents, etc. Odds are, at $250, for CJ and Tony it's probably a really good option.

Yeah - I'm not a computer person, so I'm doing no such thing.

It is a laptop in the shape of a laptop. The reason I said tablet is because that's how the operating system is designed. You have to download apps. You can't put in a disc or download a program and manage it on Windows Explorer or anything. No start menu, my computer.. and so on. If you're going to cheap but quality... Chromebook is a good idea. Just make sure you know exactly what you're using it for and that it can accommodate it first.

If you're going with Dell, I recommend you stay away from the Inspiron models. Go with Latitude.

Why's that? There's also a reasonable price jump in those categories.

On a lot of their 'budget' models they've also dropped the included warranty down to 90 days. For $40 you can up to a year. I'd really recommend doing that.

Literally get the cheapest one in the size you want, make it 6GB RAM and 1-year warranty/support.

If you need Office/anti-virus/etc. we can talk about that.

That's definitely something we'll need on there.

The free AVG is junk, Avast has a lot of compatability issues, but Open Office I can agree with for the most part at least, lol

Just from personal experience, a lot of my college friends had Inspirons and they had so many problems with them with the screen breaking, needing a new motherboard, just overall slow performance. I had a Latitude all 4 years and never had any major problems other than a line of pixels failing, which happened IIRC my senior year.

I just always thought Latitudes were built better for reliability as they are marketed as business laptops, whereas the Inspirons are targeted as personal/home use. I never really understood the difference, as they all do the same damn thing. Then again, I just used my laptop for the internet, movies, and a few (not graphically/processor demanding) games.
