Anybody else think Gaborik changing wings is a bigger deal than we are letting on, which means this should be on the coach?

I thought that at first, but then I was told repeatedly that it was just another excuse for his poor play. Changing wings is pretty easy, which is why most wingers play both sides comfortably. The whole "left wing / right wing" thing is a myth.

Gaborik is an absolute mess right now.

Watching him play is like watching an 5 year old in the swimming pool for the first time. Frightened, timid, and watching everyone else play.

And again, I saw him pull up about 6 feet short of a play on the boards, avoiding contact (several times). He should be playing in a non-checking league the way he's approaching his shifts. Seriously. I see more initiated physicality from over 40 leagues then his game right now.

Put him back on his normal wing with Richards and Hagelin. Let both of them figure it out together.

At least Nash with Step and Cally will provide scoring.

He literally kills the offense for his line on numerous occasions each game.

Really? I didnt see it. Thought he was atrocious again. At least compared to the standard he's built for himself.

Same here. Didnt even notice him after the penalty shot (kudos for getting the PS, while the result was pathetic).

Ya know, for a guy whose speed and shot are his most dangerous weapons, it really befuddled me that his choice in moves was to slow down and try to deke. Hes just totally lost right now.

He really does. He floats around and is late on every forecheck. Gets knocked off the puck. When he does get chances (PENALTY SHOT) he flubs them. Weak on the puck, weak on his skates.

To be honest, the whole scared of getting hit thing is getting really old, really fast. Sit out if you cant play right, because bad habits are forming in his game that im not sure can be turned off like a light if this team is fortunate enough to make the playoffs.

Its flat out embarrassing.

Bingo.

This, in a nutshell, is why the "but hes a 40 goal scorer when hes right" argument holds no weight with me. Hes not right. Hes not right in any aspect of the game. Hes been a detriment.

Same goes for Richards too, but a lesser degree.

Richards has always been a guy whos avoided contact in a saavy way, but its not like hes stopping literally players lengths away from contact. He gets in there and gets dirty, and lately i think he's been good with the puck especially passing - but theres definitely another level from him we have yet to see this year.

Gaborik is on a different plane of sucking. To play this type of system successfully, you have to do certain things as a forward on a consistent basis and hes not even touching the surface of that. Even if he scores or gets a few assists here and there, it doesnt matter to me because when the **** hits the fan and its crunch time, thats when you have to lean on the system and all of the cogs need to be working together...

He's always been his own type of player who is creative enough to allow him to supply 75% of what you need from him systematically, but right now its more like 15% and without the scoring creativity.

Scratch him, play a man down against Pittsburgh and make Gabby use that free time to fish Avery's skates from the Hudson and then sign Sean.

I know we are ripping this guy apart but just imagine how different this team would look with a normal Gaborik (and Richards) - with Nash.

Easily winning games like last night or least getting more points.

Its depressing, and its probably why Sather didnt give enough attention to the depth/lower lines.

I fully expect this from glass gaborik.
He never ever has back to back good seasons.
Just look at his stats.

At the hint of an injury he vanishes, as he does in big games.
He is not a championship player, just a better Wojet Wolski teams needy of talent take.

Time to deal him off for a real clutch performer.

Se we should dump Gaborik and bring in clutch Drury.

Not like Gaborik won the biggest game for this team in a decade...

Times like these are when the anti-European fans come out of hiding. I remember when we had Montoya, every Henrik bad game it was "Why don't we call up Alvaro!"

Looking at his stats does quite the opposite actually.

09 bad
10 great
11 bad
12 great
13 bad

and it continues in Minnesota.
Trade him for a defensman or somebody not made of glass who consistanly not just once shows up in big games.

I'd say his first 3 seasons in Minnesota were pretty good. He had another stretch of three consecutive seasons of great play in Minnesota. He was injured his last year there but he had 13 goals and 23 points in 17 games so I'm really not sure where you are getting this myth from. Also, this season isn't over yet so lets not write it off completely.

You've also listed 5 seasons despite the fact that he's in the middle of his 4th with us?

You don't see the logical flaw in trading him during a bad season when, by your qualifications, he should have another great one next year?

Not a lot of big investors here. You don't sell a 5 dollar stock if you know it'll be ten dollars tomorrow.

If you look at any data long enough, trends will start to emerge. I don't think Gaborik is unable to produce in odd number years.

Ah, well what if you can get 8 dollars now, whereas if you trade him at the deadline next year, you may get 6 as he will be a pending UFA. I would say a .25$ swing could sway my thoughts though.

Does anyone have any bubble gum?

Just my two cents on the position thing. Asking a Left Defensive End to play Right Defensive End is similar. You're coming in at a different angle. You're used to pushing off a certain foot and moving a certain way. The field view is different for you. It's a bigger impact than most figure and being an elite player won't help you instantly.
